This right here is the face of thankful. I can easily say that 2020 has been the hardest year of my professional life. From being closed for 3 months to reopening and trying to ensure that in doing so we were keeping our staff and customers as safe as possible, challenging is an understatement! After 23 years of me saying absolutely not, I finally caved and we signed a lease for our second location in Burnaby in Early Feb before we knew what was to come (what I wouldn’t ...give for a crystal ball!) After everything went down we started scrambling...Turns out that lease was air tight and we couldn’t get out of it. So here we were with a closed store and an air tight lease for another future store in the middle of a pandemic. Because as a small family business, business is tied to personal, I thought we may not only lose the business I have spent the last 24 years building but also our home that we’ve raised our family in. And it wasn’t just me, FYL employs and supports many families in our community. We started to hustle, we worked harder than I think any of us have ever worked! It was a small but mighty group of staff that kept us afloat. I will always be indebted to you Jacqueline, Rebecca, Remy and Jeanne. The 5 of us worked together for 2 months picking and packing orders and keeping the lightson. And it was you, our customers, our followers and our fans who made it all possible. We put out the call for help and support and boy did you respond! We brought in all the comfy, cozy quarantine staples you wanted and in return, you kept our rent, bills and staff paid with all the online orders you placed! This year has not only brought me to my knees and humbled me, but made me realize what me and my team are really made of. So on this Thanksgiving, let me just say how incredibly thankful I am to each and every person who got me through this year so far. From my team who have worked their tails off to the customers who came to our rescue, who ordered and ordered often, to our followers who sent us the most amazing messages of support and encouragement...THANK YOU!
