CORONAVIRUS & NEW COURTS!!! This is going to be a very difficult time for everyone, having to adapt to a change in lifestyle. Following the latest guidance from the LTA, our clubhouse will not be open however our courts will remain open for tennis, subject to strict social distancing and hygiene practices being used, as advised and approved by the Government. What an inspiration this highlights a few of the many reasons as to why tennis is such a good sport to play I certainly hope I’m still playing tennis when I’m 90 years old!

We are so proud of Rohan’s amazing achievements in the Lancashire Tennis Championships (bottom left). He is the Under 9 and Under 10 Lancashire County Singles Champion and Under 10 Doubles Champion . Him and his family our members at Fulwood and we watching him play. It’s great to see our younger members doing so well and enjoying playing tennis so much

Good luck to our club captain Jane Blackwell who is playing a match today for the Lancashire Over 50’s team against Yorkshire This is her having some serving practice in the with her daughter yesterday! These are the type of opportunities that can arise from playing in the club teams

Tom Baron, one of our regular vets player on Wednesday and Sunday mornings, was recently featured on the BBC programme The One Show. Tom, pictured on the left, has some impressive achievements in Seniors tennis. Along with his partner Gordon Oates, they were the Number 1 World Doubles pair for the 85s age group in the ITF ranking list for 6 months, from June to December 2018. Tom has represented GB for 7 years, playing in ITF World Championships around the world winning 3 b...ronze medals, 2 in Men's and 1 in Mixed doubles. One of their greatest achievements was getting a bronze medal in the team event, the only GB Men's team in the Super Seniors to get a team medal. He has also been National Doubles Champion with Gordon, both indoors and on clay in 2018 and was also Indoor Singles Champion 2018. Well done Tom on your fantastic achievements, you are an inspiration to us all.

Our open event held on Sunday 19th May was a great success, with members of the local community coming along to try tennis for free. It was great to see children and their parents having a go and enjoying the benefits of Fulwood LTC on their doorstep. The afternoon helped to showcase how tennis is a great sport for all ages to get outdoors and get active and something the whole family can do together in a sociable and friendly environment. Many thanks to everyone that joined us, we hope to see you all again soon!
