Today is my last day of recovery. It's been 8 weeks and I've discovered that no matter how capable you are, there just aren't enough hours in the day. It's also the day before my birthday, and because I'm working a night tomorrow, today kinda feels like my birthday. ... I got my haircut. I picked up my prescriptions and some soap and some lip balm (currently down to one container). Small joys. And now I'm in my garage, cozy from the bisque fire, currently 130 f with the lid open, fan humming along and i have these to show you. I made these before i even knew i was having surgery. They are the trials of silk screens i made months ago but hadn't yet tried. The wood. In blue, in brown. A few different slip colours Crow silk screens Trees - there will be more but on brown, and I'd like to find an interesting translucent to glaze over with. I am happy to report that my iron levels are up! And i feel stronger already. After not biking for 2 months i biked an up hill that i had to stop on 4 times presurgery, and was able to do it with only one stop. And felt better by then end of it. Well, back to things. Cups to get off the counter to make room for the next project; glaze tests. So many rabbit holes. #madeinrossland #graphicclay @ Rossland, British Columbia
Glazes are so fascinating. These two mugs have the same silk screened image of trees. The brown ish mug on the right has a brown glaze with nickel on it, then a clear glaze was spayed over top. Where ever the black underglaze in the silkscreen is the glaze ceased being honey coloured and translucent but instead changed to what you see here. Very unexpected but interesting.

Wow, this is so much more awesome un the summer compared to the winter! Welcome to my spray booth. Yes, it looks like an outhouse from the outside, but inside it's suction is powered by a used furnace fan, and it lets me spray glaze on the Olaus mugs without me inhaling glaze (yes I'm also wearing an n95).
After the Olaus and the Rossland stickers are applied i spray glaze again (same glaze). I'll remove the stickers, clean the bottoms and put them in the kiln for the glaze firing. #madeinrossland #olausjeldness #folkartguildwhite... #spraybooth See more
While David pieces this giant jigsaw puzzle of heavy rocks together i walk with these two and wait for the kiln to cool. @ Seven Summits Trailhead.
It's here! New lid. It's solid! And just a bit too heavy for me to lift on my own. I am so looking forward to firing again. Luckily my healing is going well and I've been given the ok to start resuming activities (though still no heavy lifting). I tried riding my bike around our reservoir; i didn't realise the stomach muscles involved in going uphill. Hmmm.
Jerky: dehydrator Still healing up and missing the wheel
It's been two and a half weeks since surgery. I'm going for longer walks and looking forward to having this kind of fun again. #notmakingmuch... #aaamos #django #brothers #madeinrossland @ Rossland, British Columbia See more
I'm not good at keeping secrets. This has yet to be bisque fired and glazed and then fired again, but I'm excited about this electric blue, continuous wood silk screen i made. I don't anticipate a shop update for probably a month, but I've been working in things #rosslandpotter #madeinrossland ... #bcceramics #graphicclay #woodprint See more
Went for a bike ride with a good friend that i have been lucky enough to know for almost twenty years. We passed the buildings at the reservoir and there were crows loudly cawing. Two sets in the open, then we saw in a tree close to us, that there were two crows on a branch, side by side, one cleaning the other (or whispering sweet nothings?). It was such a calm, sweet things to see a crow do, to be saddled up next to each other, on purpose, and to be tender to one another. Anyhow, @paulakelene here is the progress on your mug What i did while listening to @corwinfoxmusic
That moment when you've procrastinated so long that you're actually looking forward to doing it. #handles
It's gardening season over here. What a perfect excuse for a cold one
AAAmos, what do you see???

I'm super impressed that since changing the elements in the kiln all 3 sections are running within 2 degrees Celsius! This is the 1st firing with pottery in it since the maintenance. #hotkilns #davinci ... #itsthelittlethings #rosslandpotter See more
One day you will make sauerkraut. #kimchipot #fermentationcrock
Doing a bisque firing May 16th. If you have pieces to fire get in touch. I fire to 04. Third will be the first firing with pieces in the kiln for the new elements
