Deep breathing is one of the best ways to lower stress in the body. This is because when you breathe deeply, it sends a message to your brain to calm down and relax. Try this exercise for Diaphragmatic breathing (belly breathing): 1. Sit or lie flat in a comfortable position. 2. Put one hand on your belly just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest. 3. Take a deep breath in through your nose, and let your belly push your hand out. Your chest should not move.... 4. Breathe out through pursed lips as if you were whistling. Feel the hand on your belly go in, and use it to push all the air out. 5. Do this breathing 3 to 10 times. Take your time with each breath. 7. Notice how you feel at the end of the exercise. A quiet morning coffee, 10 minutes of meditation, a bath before bedtime, a 30 minute walk. Remember to fill your cup, because you can’t pour from an empty one

Winter and dry, itchy skin don’t have to go hand in hand. Below are some ideas to help deal with dry skin place a humidifier in the room where you spend the most time (your bedroom or couch most likely). A cool air humidifier increases the moisture level in the air increase your water intake. Don’t overdo it with alcohol and caffeine, as they are diuretics that will cause dehydration use a thick moisturizer on your hands before bed and a hydrating lip balm (I’m a fan... of glysomed and blistex) despite how many serums and creams are applied, dry skin will stay dry without some light exfoliation. Pick up a gentle scrub or for those with severely dry skin, skip the exfoliator and incorporate a wet washcloth instead for a gentler option. Many of these ideas have been covered by @dianapattenskincare , Master Aesthetician in her posts and stories. I’d suggest giving her a follow for more brilliant tips! See more

How do you move your body? How do you work up a sweat? What gets your endorphins released? In childhood I played soccer, in University I was on the rowing team (what up @trentuniversity @trentrowing ), through my mid 20’s I ran 2 full marathons and a couple half’s. Now I enjoy walking the and riding my peloton. This year, let’s focus on how amazing our bodies are #newyearsresolution #peloton #moveyourbody #trentuniversity #trentrowing #massage #massagetherapistgeorgetown #janinehoodregisteredmassagetherapist #rmt #georgetownrmt #cupping #athletictaping #goodlife #fascialstretching #rmtnearme #georgetowngoodlife #massagegeorgetown #massagetherapist #cmto #rmtao

The clinic remains open during the lockdown As regulated health providers, all massage therapy clinics remain open for in person treatment. To maintain a safe treatment environment, all clients should self screen before every appointment, wear a mask and sanitize immediately upon entry to the clinic. The decision to receive a massage treatment would be at your discretion. Let me know if you would like to postpone or reschedule your appointment.... Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I wish you and your family a safe holiday filled with peace and joy Thank you for supporting my small business. Yours in health, Janine

Is it 2021 yet? If you have been suffering from regular headaches or migraines that just won’t quit, massage therapy can help reduce the frequency or intensity. Whether it’s a tension, sinus or rebound headache or you’re a migraine sufferer, regular massage treatments can not only help relieve headache pain, but it can also help to prevent headaches from occurring. #massage #massagetherapistgeorgetown #janinehoodregisteredmassagetherapist #rmt #georgetownrmt #cupping #athletictaping #goodlife #fascialstretching #rmtnearme #georgetowngoodlife #massagegeorgetown #massagetherapist #cmto #rmtao #headacherelief #migrainerelief

Did you know that under the Massage Therapy Act, 1991, only individuals who are registrants of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario are permitted to use the protected title Registered Massage Therapist or Massage Therapist (the two terms are equivalent). To claim that someone provides Massage Therapy or use any variation of the titles or abbreviations of ‘RMT’ or ‘MT’, is also not allowed unless you’re registered with our Ontario college. To verify that someone is a Massage Therapist, you can search the Register of College registrants. #massage #massagetherapistgeorgetown #janinehoodregisteredmassagetherapist #rmt #georgetownrmt #cupping #athletictaping #goodlife #fascialstretching #rmtnearme #georgetowngoodlife #massagegeorgetown #massagetherapist #cmto #rmtao

Whether we like it or not, wearing protective face coverings has become a part of our daily lives. While they may be recommended for disease control and prevention and slowing the spread of COVID-19, wearing a mask isn’t always a pleasant experience Essential oils can help. Before applying to your mask, dilute 2 drops of your favorite essential oil in 1 tsp of a carrier oil like olive oil or argan oil. I prefer peppermint and eucalyptus. ... TIP: Dilute in a clean spray bottle for easy application. If you don’t have a spray bottle any small clean glass or plastic bottle or container will do. If you used a spray bottle, give your mask one or two light sprays. For a less intense aroma, try spraying the outside of your mask (the side not touching your skin). If you used a bottle or container without a dropper or other applicator, use a cotton swab to dip in the diluted essential oil mix and add a few drops to your mask. #massage #massagetherapistgeorgetown #janinehoodregisteredmassagetherapist #rmt #georgetownrmt #cupping #athletictaping #goodlife #fascialstretching #rmtnearme #georgetowngoodlife #massagegeorgetown #massagetherapist #cmto #rmtao

As we navigate our day to day lives sometimes it feels like we are not making progress toward the things we want however what we don’t realize is that if we keep taking those steps at the end of the day, week, month, and year we will have achieved BIG things. Knowing the WHY is important. Why do you want to accomplish the goal? HOW will you do it? You must have a plan! If you don’t know how you are going to do it, it will be challenging to accomplish the task. You don’t have to know ALL of the steps, but you need to have a basic idea and then you need to reevaluate it early and often. WHEN? When do you want to have this goal accomplished by? You must have a deadline. If you don’t put a by when date on your goals they can easily be put off.
