Are you on an immunosuppression therapy? This is for you! Please share and advocate to your local, provincial and federal health officials. Together, we can be heard. #OneShotIsNotEnough

Ottawa-Gatineau IBDers We need a helping hand! PLEASE READ, LIKE & SHARE! ... If you are taking immunosuppressants, you require a 2nd dose of the COVID vaccines to be protected against serious illness/death if you were to get infected with COVID-19. One dose provides little to no protection because of the immunosuppressive medications you take. We need your help to advocate for faster access to 1st & 2nd doses of the COVID vaccines for all those who are immunosuppressed, including the #Crohns and #colitis community. Here’s why & how you can help... A large scale study conducted by Clarity IBD in the UK confirms those taking medications that suppress their immune system Anti-TNF Biologics (Remicade, Humira, Simponi) &/or immunomodulators (Imuran, Methotrexate, 6MP) have little to no protection after only 1 dose of COVID vaccines. But, good news! The Clarity IBD study confirmed there is good protection against serious illness/death from COVID-19 once you get the 2nd dose! So while 1 dose doesn’t really work for those who are immunosuppressed, 2 doses does! Now that the vaccine supply is increasing in Canada, we need policy makers across the country to commit to providing the 2nd doses to immunosuppressed Canadians within 4 weeks of their 1st dose. We know everyone across Canada needs their 1st dose ASAP. But for us, we need the 2 doses to get the same level of protection as a healthy person will get with simply 1 dose. WHAT YOU CAN DO Write/Tweet your Premier, MPP, Municipal Councillor, Mayor, Public Health Officer, & journalists! Tell them you want immunosuppressed Canadians including those who take biologics & immunomodulators to treat Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis to get faster access to their first & second doses! Help us ensure ALL Canadians are protected against COVID-19. Because for us, #1DoseIsNotEnough. Too much work? We have you covered!
