Story about living in the country in the winter. The plowed roads make the road look fine for driving. I learned the hard way that if the plow goes far to the right it looks like the road is there. It can be the ditch. The snow made it look like a road. And it wasn't. ... Another thing I learned is that once your tires get onto the snowy edge of the road there is no turning back! The tires keep going down and your car is at a tilt. This was a big problem. I needed help. I called my son and my husband who had gone to work in Aurora to install signs. We had a huge boom truck, so I thought they could help me out somehow. They turned back to come to my rescue. The funny part of this is... A neighbor in his truck stopped. I assured him I was ok. But, I thought I should wait for my family to help since they were already on their way. When I saw their truck arrive I felt relief. They would know what to do. Slowly they started to stop behind my car. Slowly I saw the front wheel go past the road and the truck went slowly into the ditch too! Horrified, I looked behind me in disbelief. And then I started to laugh and couldn't stop. This still makes me laugh when I think about that day. Getting the truck out of the ditch was far harder and super expensive. This was a lesson well learned, and I would still want to live in the country. LOL
