UPDATE!! TOW TRUCK BILL IS ALL PAID UP!! AS ALWAYS I AM BLOWN AWAY BY THE CARING PEOPLE THAT MAKE THIS PROVINCE WONDERFUL. I have locked my keys in my car many times throughout my life. I have fished for them with coat hangers, you name it... As a white person I never imagined that the police would be called... It never even occurred to me to worry... That's called white privilege. Furthermore, if a cop happened to drive by and maybe question me, I wouldn't have thought much of it. I wouldn't be worried to be mistaken as a criminal. I wouldn't be terrified that if I did the wrong thing or made the wrong movement I might be injured or possibly killed. That's white privilege. For Adebayo Katiiti Kalibbala, mistakenly locking keys in their car was a horrifying event as you can see in this video from CityNews Edmonton. So terrifying, that when I asked the next day if he was okay, Adebayo told me that that he would not return to his car without a tow truck to help unlock it for him so that he was not again mistaken and shamed as a possible car thief. Adebayo paid 100 dollars - which was not in his careful budget - to have a tow truck unlock his car. As someone with privilege and as someone that benefits from the institutions that oppress non-white citizens, I am happy to share my wealth and cover whatever funds I cannot raise with this post. However, I wanted to give members of our community an opportunity to show our support and solidarity with Adebayo Katiiti Kalibbala by sending him a small etransfer to [email protected] If you indeed choose to send an etransfer 5 or 10 please let me know through private message or in the comments so I can keep track. If not please share the vid and maybe someone else can. When we reach 100 I will update this post. If we do not, I am happy to cover the rest. It also happens to be #transgenderdayofvisibility and it just so happens that Adebayo identifies as a Transgender person (He/Him/They/Them). Thank you for taking the time to care.

Keep those letters to your MLA coming everyone! This "New Curriculum" needs to be stopped before it goes into the pilot project stage. This is unacceptable!
