Back when I was doing more print work, I worked privately for Shaikh Holdings in Dubai, and the COO asked if I could expand on the few small sample plans the architect had put together to help sell just how unique each villa was. Each plan was substantial and took a couple days to make. These multi-level luxury resort-home villas were 10,000 sqft or more, had unique interior design layouts and elaborate landscape architecture plans. Each piece was both hand-drawn, starting... on paper, scanned in and then digitally colored by hand using the Wacom tablet system, followed by compositing and overlaid with vector line-art and typography, and all assembled in an oversized tri-fold layout. I’ve done lots of similar work but the resulting scale of this project was something I was always proud of. I felt I had the end marketing piece really sold the grand scale of each villa, and was maybe even to a higher standard than the original architects work. Makes me wish I was still crafting more work by hand.

If you’re a photographer in Nova Scotia, at some point you inevitably go to Peggy’s Cove. Whether it’s a paid job for a pre-wedding shoot or you are simply an Instagram landscape enthusiast, the Lighthouse invariably finds its way to the center lens of most cameras that visit here. With a micro-fishing community, endless water features, unique geology and local inhabitants, Peggy’s cove offers so much more to frame of course, and if you’re a professional photographer you may ...come down here with the direct intent of avoiding the lighthouse for that reason. Today that was a project goal at Peggy’s Cove: Avoid the lighthouse - Capture everything except the lighthouse. She’s an attention stealing lens hogger. Peggy wasn’t having it While backlighting the area, the sun decided to create what must have been a snow-induced rainbow, in a halo behind the lighthouse near the horizon. Thanks a lot Peggy.
