Did you know: In Japan, there is a form of art called Kintsugi. It involves putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold built on the idea that in embracing flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art.... Every break is seen as unique and instead of repairing an item like new, the 400-year-old technique actually highlights the "scars" as a part of the design. Using this as a metaphor for healing ourselves teaches us an important lesson: Sometimes in the process of repairing things that have broken, we actually create something more unique, beautiful, and resilient. #psychoeducation #psychology #psychotherapy #psychotherapist #therapy #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthsupport #mentalhealthcare #emotionalwellbeing #emotionalhealth #resiliency #repair #kintsugi #japaneseart #perspectivetaking #toronto #torontocanada #canada

Did you know that... Individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) experience difficulty regulating their emotions. Those with BPD often find themselves being unable to control the intensity of their moods, resulting in extreme and fast-changing moods, in combination with unstable/volatile relationships. In a study conducted by Chapman, Jamil, and Fleisher in 2019, BPD is multifactorial in etiology. There is a genetic predisposition. Twin studies show over 50% herita...bility (greater than that for major depression. Twin studies performed in 2000 and 2008 both demonstrated higher concordance of the rate of borderline personality disorder for monozygotic versus dizygotic twins. Environmental factors that have been identified as contributing to the development of borderline personality disorder include primarily childhood maltreatment (physical, sexual, or neglect), found in up to 70% of people with BPD, as well as maternal separation, poor maternal attachment, inappropriate family boundaries, parental substance abuse, and serious parental psychopathology. #psychoeducation #psychoed #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthcare # #psychology #BorderlinePersonalityDisorder #BPD #fearofabandonment #emotionaldysregulation #DBT #psychotherapy #psychology #psychotherapist #Toronto #Ontario See more

Many of us, whether in elementary school, high school, college/university, or in our day-to-day have encountered situations where we may have judged someone based on how they present on the exterior just a little too quickly. The next time we are tempted to do so, please remember we may only be seeing the tip of the iceberg in someone's life and we might not understand what the person is truly going through. #compassion #empathy #psychology #psychotherapy #therapy #neverassume #dontjudgetooquickly #support #life #psychotherapist #mentalhealth #mentalwellbeing #bemindful #awareness #toronto #torontopsychotherapy #torontopsychotherapist #ontario #canada
