There's some new information for coaches, players and parents in the updated Return to Hockey document from our friends at Hockey Alberta. Coaches can check out... some ideas for physically-distanced drills and parents can ensure everyone's following the rules at the rink. It's been awesome to see the players so excited to hit the ice this week. We want to ensure we do everything within our power to keep those Covid numbers going down and, ultimately, clearing the way for some game action. https://www.hockeyalberta.ca//RTH_-_Hockeys_Path_Forward_-
Players will hit the ice at more rinks tomorrow now that City Council has approved the opening of five arenas (12 sheets of ice). Administration's plan includes... keeping the stands closed to spectators. We must follow the rules to keep everyone safe as we get back to enjoying the game we love. All the details on the decision and the protocols can be found here: http://www.hockeyedmonton.ca/article/63733 See more
Just after the excited kids hit the ice at the Canadian Athletic Club came news we are now allowed to have two groups of ten on the ice in opposite ends: http://www.hockeyedmonton.ca/article/63679 Play by the rules, keep each other safe & keep driving those Covid numbers down.
Are you an #yegphysician or nurse and alumni of the #EdmontonMinorHockeyAssociation? In February Hockey Edmonton is launching a new series on Edmonton Minor Ho...ckey Association alumni who are doing great work to help make Edmonton an even better place to live, work and play. If you're an #Edmonton physician or nurse and alumni of the Edmonton Minor Hockey Association, Hockey Edmonton wants to talk to you about what you learned growing up playing hockey that you've taken into the work world to help you become a great teammate and leader. They are hoping to feature a doctor or a nurse in their first episode to recognize the efforts of #healthcareworkers in the midst of #COVID19. Send a DM if interested!
Update from Hockey Edmonton.
It's International Volunteer Day! Today we take a little extra time to salute all the people who give so much of their time so the kids can play. We may be side...lined right now but we know we will be back and when we are we'll be relying on volunteers once again to help the kids have fun. Thank you!!! See more
More fun activities for the kids!
Thank you to everyone that entered the contest! And also very sorry for the week delay in announcing a winner! Congratulations to Jason Hooper! Please contact Matt @ [email protected] to arrange for your prize!
Ask the kids! What do they love most about hockey? Comment below! Feel free to share and look for a new question each Friday!
Players are going to have to wait a little longer for celebrations like this one. We're putting QuikCard Edmonton Minor Hockey Week on hold due to the pandemic.... The tournament was slated to run in January. This delay will see organizers look for an opportunity later in the year to stage this historic event. QEMHW dates back to 1964 and has been one of the largest and longest running hockey tournaments in the world. It was awarded a Guinness World Record in 2003 for the largest ice hockey tournament with 471 teams and 7,127 players! We appreciate the ongoing support of QuikCard and its leader, Lyle Best, who endorses the move as the responsible thing to do. We are also grateful to have all the volunteers, who are led by Paul Raimundo, ready to step up yet again when the time is right. In the meantime, we will all keep doing everything within our power to get these Covid-19 numbers trending in the right direction. If we can achieve that, we will once again celebrate the tradition generations of Edmontonians have come to love!
Shout out to all our goalies!
The Hawks Athletic Club had 18 players try out for the Pee Wee AA program at KC and CAC this past September. Their hard work and determination resulted in 6 players making those U13AA teams. Congratulations to all of you for trying out. You have made us proud!
I would imagine a lot of our kids feel the same way.
