Thi...s weeks vendor spotlight goes to Watersmeet Farm - Jerrard and Donna Kay Brown are based in Barriere and have been growing and selling their amazing produce in the North Thompson Valley for over 15 years! Jerrard's advice if you want a large quantity of cabbage is to order ahead for pick up at the market. They also have a wide variety of other vegetables, including corn! August 29 Market news- the The Secret Garden Flower Farm and 108 Sausage Company will be back! The corn is winding down so this may be your last chance this yea...r but the harvests are in full swing for all the other great fresh produce as well as fresh baking, honey, preserves, beef, chicken, eggs and handmade goods. The Growers Collective table will be open with a variety of lovely locally grown apples picked by our BC Wildfire Services gleaning crew! All proceeds go to the YCS Food Security Program. This lovely display from last week is courtesy of Bears Bounty from Barriere. Market runs 9 am - noon on the field at the Dutch Lake Community Centre. Support local and shop safe! See more

Good Morning Everyone! I have to say something I Am So PROUD of our local Healthcare Professionals! This cannot, in any way, be easy for any of them. Not for... the Nurses(my sister is an LPN, we chat much lately), the Management Team, the Cleaners, the Care Aides, the Cooks(Dietary Tech?), Lab Techs and X Ray, the Support Staff, and the Doctors. Not easy for the Staff at the Medical Clinic, not the people at the Pharmacy. Not for the Paramedics and Ambulance Attendants, not for the Community Care Workers, the people working in elderly care, the Mental Health Workers all of you, we love you. We are asking a lot of them right now, more as citizens than probably at any time in our lives. But we have a duty as well We must hold the line. We must hold the line for them. We must do everything in our power to hold back the advance of this virus. Stay Home. Wash your hands. Stay away from everyone who doesn’t live in your home 6 feet or more. Only go out for absolute essentials. Self Quarantine if you feel any symptoms Call 811. We must hold the line on hygiene. Use that soap! Use those cleaners! Hold the line with our kids keep them close. You are the Boss, make it happen. If you slip, start again. Hold the line on panic and anxiety. Fear is as much an enemy as anything. We must support each other so we can stay calm. Spreading fake cures, false hope, conspiracy theories and other garbage is absolutely toxic for mental health. Chasing rumours and lies is a waste of everyone’s time. The smartest people in the world are working on this; trust that they know what they are doing. Good information sources are linked below We must hold the line on our friends and family. If they are not getting this, we must educate them. We must insist that they follow the rules. If they don’t, we may have to cut them off. If there has ever been a time in history for Tough Love, now is that time. You know what you have to do, so do it. Hold the line for our Healthcare Professionals. The longer we do, the more time they will have to get ready, get stocked up, get the help they need. To the Healthcare Workers whatever you need, just ask, we will do our best to help.
