The area is going into "lockdown" once more. Hills Pharmacy and Hills Clinic Pharmacy will both be staying open! There will be a maximum of 3 people allowed in the stores. This is according to the new laws regarding the lockdown. If you are coming in and see several people in the store, we would appreciate it if you could wait outside. We will do our best to keep wait times short for you. We would also like to encourage people to use our delivery service! Our driver starts at... about 1PM every day, and would be happy to help you out. Due to the high volume of Covid cases in the Aylmer area, if possible we would like to do "contactless" deliveries to protect our driver. Hills Pharmacy's downtown location will be open tomorrow, Nov 7, for our usual hours of 9-3. This is subject to change depending on circumstances. We would like to remind any of our patients and customers that we do require you to wear a mask while in our store, and we also have a limit on how many people can be in our store at one time. Many of our patients and customers are in poor health, that is why they come to our store. We appreciate your assistance in helping us to protect them by following those safety measures. We have a new app! Its called "Rx2GO", and you can find it on the Google Play store or the iTunes App store. It will let you request refills and see your current medication profile. For getting a refill, its quick and easy: Just find us in the store locator, put in your prescription numbers and phone number, and indicate if you want it delivered or will be coming to pick it up in the store. ... To access your profile, you first have to come see us in the store so we can issue you a card number and a PIN. This is a security feature, so we know its really you looking through your profile. The process will only take a couple of minutes. The profile will list all of your medications, the doses and instructions, as well as if you have any refills left. You can also order a refill from that screen. The app also has sections for some information on various health conditions and medications, and also if you forget our store hours or location they are in there too. We have had lots of people looking for the "high dose" flu shot this year. So we thought you might like some information about this compared to the regular flu shot: The "high dose" flu shot, or "high dose trivalent influenza vaccine", covers 2 influenza A strains, and one influenza B strain. Compared to the older regular strength trivalent influenza vaccine (which has been replaced with the quadrivalent versions), it resulted in fewer hospitalizations related to influenza in... seniors. The regular flu shot is a quadrivalent influenza vaccine, which protects against 2 strains of influenza A and 2 strains of influenza B. The extra B strain it protects against is more prevalent among young children. So if you are in regular contact with young children, this one may be a better option. The high dose version is in short supply, so we are reserving it for the most high risk patients, such as the very old or those who are immunosuppressed for some reason. The regular flu shot still gives good protection, even in seniors, and should not be skipped in the hopes that extra high dose ones will be available later. We are expecting more flu shots to be available next week sometime.
