What community transmission looks like (this is a real example from our community): a 40-person BBQ in a park led to 105 high-risk contacts in schools. These 10...5 contacts had to self-isolate for 14 days & go for testing. Parents had to miss work, kids had to miss school & 105 more people were in line for testing. All from a BBQ. Our actions matter. See more
CBC Montreal asked an expert to explain the testing process in a child-friendly way.
Were you recently given instructions to self-isolate or self-monitor? Check out #RCDHU's new resource, which might help to explain the difference between the two. Lets keep it up with #PhysicalDistancing , #WearAMask when you can't, and #WashYourHands often!
IMPORTANT: #RCDHU Update on #COVID19 Self-Assessment Tool. Remember to complete the @ONgov self-assessment tool daily before going to school or work. To access these tools visit: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/.
ATTN: Impt update to #COVID19 guidance for #RenfrewCounty + #SouthAlgonquin. Household members who DO NOT have symptoms can now self-monitor (not self-isolate). This means they can attend school or work with careful attention to physical distancing, masking and hand hygiene.
Please be advised of the following updates for household members from the Health Unit: Household members who do not have any symptoms must carefully self-monitor for any symptoms but can continue to attend school and work so long as they do not develop any new symptoms. Everyone must continue to pay close attention to the rules on physical distancing, mask wearing and hand-washing. This part of the guidance is an update.

What do I do if I have any COVID-19 symptoms?
Dear Parent/Guardian We are 9 days into the school year, and we thank you and our students for the tremendous energy and commitment to safety you have exemplified in our schools. Our students are again showing us the way in their dedication to precautions like wearing masks and practising sound hand hygiene. We also want to thank our remote and on-line learners for your patience as we have launched our RCCDSB virtual school as quickly as possible. With schools re-opened, the ...difficult task of keeping them open by keeping the COVID virus out and mitigating its spread should it get in, requires focus and persistence. We cannot let our guard down. As well, the challenge of reacting swiftly and appropriately when illness arises becomes more important. A few notes and reminders as we move further into week two:
Our new COVID-19 dashboard will break down any confirmed cases and closures by school: https://docs.google.com//2PACX-1vTZJbWH4nncBME67xh/pubhtml

Before the start of last school year, this parent came up with a plan to help her family get through the morning before-school routine. How many of these tips have you tried?
Some reminders from the Renfrew County and District Health Unit as we enter into the second week of school: If you are sick, stay home. Dont go to work/school. Equally important, have a low bar for COVID-19. The symptoms can mimic anything and everything, including health problems you may have had in the past. Do not make your own diagnosis, leave that to the health professionals and to the testing. Make arrangements through the Renfrew County Virtual Triage Assessment Ce...ntre (RCVTAC). Secondly, if you are sick and are being tested, those in your immediate household should also stay at home and monitor themselves for symptoms while awaiting the result of your test. If you think you may have COVID-19 symptoms or have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, first self-isolate and then use Ontario's Self-Assessment Tool to see if you need to seek further care. For more information about the COVID-19 Testing Schedule visit the RCVTAC website at https://rcvtac.ca/ or call 1-844-727-6404.
