Game jam project The team was inspired by a combination of the third-person shooter (TPS) and Tower Defense to create this project. The idea is to defend an area against successive waves of various enemies that increase in number over time by using resources to build defensive buildings. At the end of each wave of enemies, the player gains additional resources. The hero is invulnerable and has several skills to achieve his goals: the ability to build and the ability to absorb... spheres of power to carry out destructive attacks. But if the building to defend, called Nexus in the game, is destroyed, the game is over! The team, made up of programmers and a technical animator, enjoyed being able to define, design and produce this game from A to Z, and thus acquire additional skills in game design, animation and artificial intelligence management. This game jam was also an opportunity for the team to learn that the production of a video game requires precise planning of the tasks and steps to be followed. The team realized that the organization and distribution of tasks are crucial for the proper execution of the programming phase. Adding elements that were not carefully thought out during the design phase can also quickly become very time-consuming. The spirit of the Game Jam is there: challenging each other and learning together!

Projet Game Jam L’équipe s’est inspirée d’une combinaison entre le jeu de tir à la troisième personne (TPS) et le Tower Defense pour créer ce projet. Il s’agit de défendre une zone contre des vagues successives d’ennemis variés de plus en plus nombreux au fil du temps en utilisant des ressources pour construire des bâtiments défensifs. À chaque fin de vagues d’ennemis, le joueur gagne des ressources supplémentaires. Le héros est invulnérable et dispose de plusieurs compétence...s pour arriver à ses fins : la capacité de construction et la possibilité d’absorber des sphères de pouvoirs pour effectuer des attaques destructrices. Mais si le bâtiment à défendre, appelé Nexus dans le jeu, est détruit, la partie est finie! L’équipe, composée de programmeurs et d’un animateur technique, a aimé pouvoir définir, concevoir et réaliser ce jeu de A à Z, et acquérir ainsi des compétences additionnelles en conception de jeux, en animation et en gestion de l’intelligence artificielle. Cette game jam aura aussi été l’occasion d’apprendre pour l’équipe que la production d’un jeu vidéo nécessite une planification précise des tâches et étapes à respecter. L’équipe a réalisé que l'organisation et la répartition des tâches sont cruciales pour la bonne exécution de la phase de programmation. L’ajout d’éléments qui n'ont pas été consciencieusement réfléchis lors de la phase de conception peut aussi vite s’avérer très coûteux en temps. L’esprit de la Game Jam est bien là : se lancer des défis et apprendre ensemble!
