Copious thanks to everyone who helped with last week's city-wide garbage pick up. Pictured here are some of them, including students from Kelvin Parent's Grade 6 class at Mountview School, Drake and River Watts, Charlie Wyse, William Wallace, Michael Wynne, Angie Cahoose, Genn Russell and city summer students Jordyn McAlister and Morgan Lord. It was a great first effort. I am keen to co-ordinate more events. Thanks also to others who cleaned up around their own neighbourhoods.

Welcome to our first annual city-wide garbage pick up event scheduled for Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to noon. We also invite/challenge schools and businesses to do their own neighbourhood clean ups on Friday, May 10. If any residents or groups are inspired we invite you to post photographs of your efforts on this Facebook page. On Saturday, May 11, city workers will be helping us by picking up the bags of litter we gather throughout our town. Anyone wanting garbage bags, gloves or hand-held pickers can meet at the Public Works Yard at 555 Second Avenue North before 10 a.m. on May 11.
