What would summer be without a Garage Sale???? Yup, after sorting, cleaning and feeling the need to NOT let our customers down we decided to have a garage sale on July 25th, 2020. Now, before you start getting all excited there are quite a few things you need to know first;... Due to everything going on it will only be our shop having items for sale. We thought about having other vendors but too many factors prevented this from going forward. Yes, I know it sucks but its short notice and and at least its something, right? ALL PEOPLE ATTENDING ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR MASKS! No, not halloween types but lets show respect to others by doing our part. It should go without saying that if you are exhibiting symptoms of cold, flu or other or just not feeling well, PLEASE STAY HOME. Since this will be on a Saturday, a day we are normally open, the number of people allowed within the store will be limited, so please be patient and understand. Our first garage sale was in 2008, and we have had one every year with each bigger and better than the last. As much as we wanted to do something spectacular this year, world events have changed those plans dramatically. So, why not still do something but scale it down so people can still have fun, find some great bargains, and dig through piles of awesome audio stuff? Yeah, I thought so to which is why we felt its needed. So mark your calendars for 10am July 25th, bring a pocket of cash and come on down! NO EARLY BIRDS! Its not fair to others and we will be enforcing this. Because this is short notice, there will be no food truck or other types of refreshments available - sorry.

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all those that have visited the 'new' store over the past weeks. In almost all cases, the response has been fantastic and the general consensus is that the store looks and feels better than ever. We have been working hard getting awesome gear unto the floors, and Edwin is working miracles in the back area now that we have instilled the 'no talking to the Edwin' rule. Even though we have only been reopened for a short time, we have... been flooded with repairs coming in from all over BC and Alberta. We are doing our very best to keep up with the workload, but are still taking the time to ensure each repair is done properly and to the best of our abilities. We take your trust in us seriously, and will do everything we can to give you our customers the very best we can offer. If you have not visited us yet, drop on by and check out the new store layout, our expanded record department and all the new goodies coming out daily. We open in just under an hour so I wanted to quickly share some other changes we have made here at Innovative Audio; First, and most important is we recognize that over the past few months things have been a bit rough, and while other business's have raised prices to compensate for losses, we feel that consumers deserve a break. That is why starting today the price you see on any item on our sales floor (records& repairs being the exception) the price you see is the price you... pay. In other words, we will be absorbing the sales tax instead of our customers. We only ask when haggling that you take this into consideration before beating us up too badly :) Second; due to charges being imposed by Visa and MasterCard on transactions, we will now be implementing a 3% surcharge on transactions paid by these credit cards. Obviously, Debit and cash purchases do not apply. We do not accept American Express or cheques - sorry. Third; there is no top floor anymore for sales. Well, there IS a top floor however it is now dedicated solely for movie prop rentals and sales - no consumer sales products will be available and it is now closed off to customers not associated with the film industry. Fourth; the biggie....from this point forward our tech / repair area is OFF LIMITS to all persons not part of Innovative Audio staff. No exceptions, no excuses. If needed, we can have our technicians come out to meet customers under special circumstances but this will be mandated by the discretion of staff. Due to the enormous workload ahead of us, we need to insure our techs are undisturbed so they can do the best job possible without interruptions. ‘‘Twas the night before opening and all through the shop, EVERYTHING is stirring cause we worked ‘till we drop! Well here we are, heading down the homestretch. It has been long days, frustrating set backs and other foibles to contend with but Sue, Mark and JR stepped up and kept plowing forward. These guys are simply the best and nothing I can say will never be enough. These people are the essence of Innovative Audio, and I am humbled and proud to be part of this great team. ...So, with all those days/weeks/months now past, what was done? I will let the pictures speak for themselves.... We open tomorrow!!!!!!!

Today would have been the day we had our Annual Garage Sale. Today would have been the day we had vendors selling awesome stereo equipment, records and audio related merchandise. Today we would have walked amongst these stalls eating a bbq bratwurst or burger from the food truck. Today we would have had music played by great radio personalities or awesome musicians. Today would have been but it did not.... It only means that next year it’s gonna be bigger and better, and I for one am already planning to bring some surprises!!!

We are in the final days of clean up, organizing and getting everything in place for our reopening on Tuesday. With so many changes it’s hard to know where to start but we will post a video of the new layout Monday night! Yeah, it’s a whole new Innovative Audio but loaded with everything you have come to expect from us, only now laid out in a spacious environment.... Unlike most ambitious folks, I am not one of those that spring from the bed at 6:00am. If the alarm goes off at 6am the house better be on fire or the clock is gonna have a quick introduction to the hammer. With that, due to prevailing circumstances I have been up at six, so I can be at the shop by 7 to let in the crew working on the windows. During that time, we are still motoring along moving, changing, building and designing a whole new Innovative Audio. ... Today was really good, and again with heartfelt thanks to Mark, JR and of course Susan we kicked butt and got things done. The entire south side of the shop was completely emptied, swept and cleaned and just in time for the new carpets to be installed. Yup, no more icky worn tile floors, we now have wall to wall baby!

As we continue to move forward, we have still have some major hurdles to clear. This includes new lower structure supports under the windows, removal of all counters no longer being used, all carpet taken up and thrown out, new carpet brought in and installed, equipment racks brought in and organized, new speaker area to be completely rebuilt and more. Setting a goal to have all of this done by early June seems daunting, but I believe the new look of the shop will be well worth the effort. Oh yeah, we are also adding a dedicated movie prop section just for audio related gear! More on that later on....

Continuation of the ongoing progress to re-open the shop; Both Mark and I were in today, and again a great deal of things were accomplished. We unfortunately encountered a setback, but hopefully this will be rectified on Wedsneday. While moving the massive shelving units behind the till area, we discovered large amounts of mold on the lower portion of the drywall. Since we are getting the one area repaired for a minor leak under one bank of windows, we thought it best to ch...eck the other side just in case. It was a good thing we did. My main concerns and efforts going forward is to create a great environment for Audio hobbiests to have fun, check out some cool gear and of course to keep things clean and organized. So we will be removing all the areas under the windows, and replace with new. *whew!* See more

Day 5 of changes to our shop. As stated before, we needed one day to figure out how things were going to go and today we put it into motion. Before I go any further, it should be clearly noted that none of this would have been accomplished without the incredible efforts from; Darrin, Mark, JR, Dave and Sue. You guys are amazing, and from my heart I thank you. Today these guys rolled up their collective sleeves and did 5 days worth of work into one!... The record area is moved, set up in its new location and nearly operational, the new location for the sales / service area was gutted, cleaned and racks already in place for customer pick up, all the speakers and equipment from the upstairs area is now downstairs, and all this in one day! You guys rock!
