I can help you move into the most versatile and stable version of Windows ever produced. It can be frustrating unless you know how to tune it to for your specific preferences. I can help with that.

An interesting perspective on data farming.

As you may know, Mozy online backup has been purchased by Carbonite who will be ending support on April 15th. Carbonite have no free backup option and seem to be geared more for corporate customers. IDrive has a 5 GB free option (Mozy's free quota was 2 GB) and a very inexpensive paid option if that's not enough storage. If you want to check out IDrive follow this link: https://www.idrive.com/p=irwincompu . I'm available to assist anyone wanting to migrate to IDrive to keep their data secure in the event of a disaster.

I just received a phishing email and thought I would show what to do when you are wondering about an email's validity. You need to do this on a computer, not a mobile device. Mouse to the link without clicking it. You should get a message that shows the real URL to which you would go if clicked. If it's the same as the displayed link then there's no deception (doesn't mean the link is safe). Most of the time the link is displayed as a word or phrase but the mouse should reveal its URL just the same.

Here's a tip I just discovered for those of you using the Chrome web browser. You probably know that they added an icon in the tabs so that you know which tab is playing sound (see illustration). That’s really nice, and very helpful when some site suddenly starts playing noise, usually from an irritating auto-playing video. You can now right-click that little icon (even if it’s not the in-use tab) and, on the fly-out menu, you’ll see Mute Site as one of the options. Not mute video or mute tab but mute the site it remembers your selection for each domain so that they can’t blast you with sound in the future. Want to hear the sound later? Just right-click it again and unmute.
