To all our friends, family, and colleagues. We wish to update you on the status of our firm at this difficult time. In response to the growing concern surrounding the COVID-19 virus, we have closed our office to the public. However, we are all still working! We continue to be available by phone and/or email. If you'd like to provide us with your taxes, we request that you email your accountant directly and co-ordinate with her/him to make arrangements.... We will be arranging signing of your tax returns via email. If you would prefer not to sign via email, we can arrange for signatures at a later time. In response to the growing global concern around COVID-19, the management team at JJA Chartered Professional Accountants wanted to provide an update on our commitment to your health and safety moving forward. At the moment, our office will remain open and operate as per usual. However, we are suggesting alternative arrangements for tax preparation this year. As we see a significant number of people this time of year, we are suggesting clients email / PDF their tax records t...o your preferred accountant, or to Colleen at reception at [email protected] Should clients not be able to PDF / email their records, please drop them off at the front desk accordingly. We will prepare the tax returns and phone / email for any confirmation / missing information. We do ask that anyone who has returned from travel outside of Canada to follow government protocol and self-isolate for a 14-day period to minimize the risk of spread. Other ways to mitigate the risk of contracting the virus including washing your hands often, staying home if you are experiencing any symptoms (i.e. Fever, dry cough), and following the guidelines set out by the BC Centre for Disease Control (http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19). With new information being updated daily, JJA Chartered Professional Accountants will continue to monitor the situation and follow the guidelines set out by public health officials. Stacey Dystant [email protected] Stacey was born in Campbell River and moved to Nanaimo at a young age. After graduating from NDSS, she moved to the Lower Mainland to attend BCIT. While attending university, Stacey worked for a temporary placement agency. This allowed her the freedom to attend classes while still gaining bookkeeping experience in various industries.... After returning to Nanaimo in 2005, she worked for a local bookkeeping firm before returning to school at Vancouver Island University in the fall of 2011, where she received her Applied Business Technology Accounting Assistant certificate. While completing the certificate, she realized that she wanted to pursue an accounting designation and enrolled at VIU to start her Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting, in the fall of 2012. During her 4th year of university, her son was born, and school was put on hold for the time being. Completing her remaining classes for her degree and entering the CPA program is part of her 5-year plan. Stacey joined the Johnston, Johnston, and Associates Ltd. team in the summer of 2018. In her free time, Stacey enjoys spending quality time with her fiancé, Mathew, and their son, Sebastian.
