Paul came to Canada for a change of scenery. He loved the country and loved the people. Paul went from working holiday visa to working holiday visa, and found the process involved in staying in Canada to be very complex. Nearing his 30th birthday, Paul faced the decision of either choosing to apply for permanent residency or returning home. He chose permanent residency via Express Entry and reached out to us for help. ... When asked what it was like working with our firm, Paul said: "Incredibly diligent with paperwork. Communicated when things needed to be done and how to do it. Great customer service. Joe kept me updated on timelines which was also a great thing." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7PkVNztQw4

Fernando, from Venezuela, came to work and study in Canada, but decided he wanted to stay. Fernando started with a visa, and we were able to help him get his work permit for a year, and eventually his permanent residence. "They told me exactly what to do step by step to reach my last goal, which was my permanent residence."... One challenge Fernando faced was that all of his paperwork was attached to his Venezuelan passport, which was due to expire in just a few months. "I was panicking. But J Kenney Consulting helped me in those challenging moments." Watch Fernando's full story below. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QO9p9jOJXMw

Tara came to Canada for a change in scenery, and Barry says he wanted to come to Canada his whole life. The challenge: Tara and Barry were seeking their permanent residence, but there were plenty of hiccups they faced as they tried to get the necessary credits to do so. "I wasn't working in a position that was in line with my degree to go straight for Express Entry. But a friend recommended Joe, and he recommended I go through PNP via Sponsorship from my job in a hotel at the... time." "Every step of the way, with all the paperwork, they were a great help. They were there to answer any questions, and any emails, they would get straight back with a response. I wasn't ever waiting with any questions. They were always there to help." Good news! I have finally received confirmation from the government that people can receive government assistance (ie CERB) in the face of COVID-19 without neg...ative impact for their immigration processes or status. That means people sponsoring loved ones (ie spouse, child, parent or grandparent) and those being sponsored could receive government assistance during this difficult time without fearing that they would be deemed to be financially ineligible in their immigrant process down the road. The same applies to temporary foreign workers like caregivers and their sponsored family member/s. They could apply for CERB (if they meet the requirement) and their immigration application and PR status will NOT be negatively affected. Many immigration-related processes that are strictly tied to people’s ability to support themselves and/or that of their loved ones. That’s why on April 8, I wrote to the Ministers seeking assurances that: 1. Applying for or receiving the CERB/CEWS benefits or other government assistance will have no negative impact or affect on an individual’s ability to proceed with their PR application; 2. Those in receipt of the CERB/CEWS or other government assistance will not be deemed financially inadmissible if they are applying for PR under any other category except Protected Persons; 3. Applying for or receiving the CERB/CEWS benefit or other government assistance will not negatively impact an individual’s ability to sponsor an eligible family member for immigration to Canada; 4. For those who are required to meet a certain income requirement in their immigration process, their loss of income during the COVID-19 pandemic period would not negatively impact their application; and 5. For Caregivers whose employer who may have lost their income and is unable to continue to pay the caregiver during this COVID-19 period, that the caregiver would not be penalized for this unfortunate situation; and, to ensure that caregivers are not further negatively impacted, that the time loss during this period would continue to count towards their 2-year work requirement. Glad to have confirmation on #1-4. 29.6.2020 Update: The Minister has finally provided an answer to number 5. Unfortunately, the Minister has not committed to counting the interrupted time towards the 24-month work requirement as indicated in his letter that can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/JennyKwanVanEast/posts/2978921808874341 #COVID19 #COVIDWontHelpMe Canadian Immigration and Citizenship Canadian Association of Refugee Lawyers - CARL L'ACAADR Migrante BC Migrante Canada Migrant Workers Centre
