"We typically offer a number of events throughout the year for our staff, to bring them together in social situations and build a sense of community among our various schools and sites. In the midst of the pandemic, we couldn't offer any of our traditional events and started looking at other, virtual options. ... We came across Chef Joey and we're so glad we did! We booked an evening event, our staff enthusiastically signed up, and we all had so much fun! Chef Joey is an excellent teacher, even for those of us who might be a little challenged in the kitchen. The evening flew by and the food was delicious. We appreciated: the tips for prep, the add-on suggestions we could do on our own, the ability to customize our menu options, and the ease of booking and communicating leading up to the event. Everything was easy to manage and they are quick to answer any questions you have before and during the class. After the event, we surveyed the staff who participated and the feedback was very positive, with everyone indicating they'd be interested in another session. We have since booked a second session and this time it will be a cooking with kids' class. Pandemic or not, this is a great option for pulling people together -- we laughed, we learned, we feasted. Even when the world returns to "normal" we'll likely keep offering Chef Joey classes to our staff. Headed over to Manuel Latruwe Patisserie and Bread Shop to get my puff pastry for my Beef and Guinness Pot Pie for our St. Patty's Day cooking class. We are making an Irish mashed potatoes then putting that Guinness back to work with Guinness Chocolate Brownies and Irish Cream frosting! There's still room and enough time to your groceries. Manuel Latruwe is a Calgary treasure and has been serving up amazing treats since 1998. It's worth a trip to see what he has for you!
