Lucien & Noona are 5 months into their training and they are doing fantastic! It warms my heart every time I get to work with them as Noona is such a great support for Lucien already! I can see an amazing future for these two! I mean really, there is nothing better than a boy and his dog! Lucien has an extremely rare disease of the central nervous system called Spinocerebellar ataxia 7. It's so rare in fact, that life expectancy and all the symptoms are not fully known by m...edical practitioners. At the age of 11, Lucien is legally blind and relies more and more on his wheelchair to get around as the disease affects his balance and motor control and is already experiencing issues with unclear speech. However, through it all, Lucien continues to be a bright light and always deeply involved in every training session! He and Noona share an amazing bond! We at K9CINB & our partner K-9 Country Inn Working Service Dogs Non Profit # 1197841 are asking on Lucien's behalf for financial donations to help continue the training of Noona. On Wedn K-9 Steve and I went to Fredericton to work with our Service Dog team Noona & Lucien. 9 months old, Noona is really growing into a fantastic support for her boy!

It's been one week since K-9 Steve arrived and now that he's settled in nicely we are starting some small training sessions mixed with play and praise. Although tonight I started "formal" training sessions with K-9 Steve, he gets "informally" trained 24/7. We work daily with rewarding behaviors we like which in turn teaches Steve manners and boundaries. Behaviours as simple as sitting before opening his crate door, or getting his leash on. I've not put these behaviors on... cue yet ( using the word sit for example) as I want the behaviors to be strong before naming them so I don't inadvertently "poison" the cue. ( Making it confusing for the pup). Starting from scratch with a puppy is so much fun and loads of responsibility but I wouldn't change it for the world! & Camlab Reg'd Labradors K-9 Country Inn Service Dog Club
