Do you exercise your dog A LOT because you think a tired dog is a good dog, but it seems like your dog wants more and more regardless? Exercise doesn’t seem to fix the problem of your dog constantly wanting your attention, being demanding, hyperactive or underfoot? Your dog just doesn’t tire?... You just want him to chill? Then you are not alone! It’s one of the struggles so many dog owners have. And it’s wrongfully tried to be solved with more entertainment for the dog and it results in the exact opposite of what people want. What your dog really has to learn is to regulate their emotions. As well as learning waiting for their turn and that their core needs will be satiated on your schedule with their needs in mind. Learning to JUST CHILL is a skill! It doesn’t come naturally to many dogs the way we expect then to live with us, so we actually have to teach them. But don’t worry, we got you! www.k9possible.com

Head through the wall at times but really deep inside a total softy...that’s Apollo to a T I know sometimes our dogs behaviours can be really frustrating and we are thinking they just don’t want to listen to us. And it can make you feel confused yourself because you thought dog ownership wouldn’t be that hard.... If you only knew how to get your dog to listen to you So you can start living life with them as you initially imagined! Many dogs that seem like they are hyper active, rude, pushy, don’t listen and distracted... Are actually frustrated and confused because they don’t know what’s expected and it shows in those distracted and intense behaviours. All they need is some help for the nervous system to settle to feel a little bit more at ease and be able to pay attention better and then clear instructions and teachings and they will be more than happy to follow Apollo is the perfect example of this. His hormones at his age add to the pushiness and him sometimes negotiating lol but really all he wants is for you to show him how to live with you. And I bet your dog is just the same. So if you are struggling to figure out what your dog really needs and how to help them integrate into your lifestyle I am happy to help!

Welcome to Apollo (yellow, 8 months) & Aurora (chocolate, 5.5 months) to our Board & Train It’s no easy task to have two such young dogs in one household. Props to the owner for the challenge While there are certainly pros to having two dogs to give each other company, there’s also cons especially when they both are so young.... And from a training standpoint well that’s why they are here It’s hard work training one young dog, let alone two and have them become well adjusted members of society, while also having kids and trying to juggle everything in life. So by doing my job I will help this family bring some more peace amongst the chaos by helping the dogs simply be more patient and well mannered, nice leash walkers and become being off leash reliable, so that there will be no limits to any summer plans they are having. If you are looking to have a relaxing time with your dogs this summer rather than trying to rip your hair out because they are running circles around you, bolt out of the car as soon as you open the trunk and steal the food off thw bbq...this is the time to get started! www.k9possible.com

As I’m welcoming our newest Board & Train dogs this month (pics coming soon) I realized I totally forgot to update about the past ones... Lizzie & Bruno Aside from being able to let all her dogs off leash with confidence, one of Teresa’s main goals was to be able to walk all her 3 large dogs on leash together safely without being dragged around.... Bear, her 3rd dog completed a board and train with us a few years ago and is already in shape. When Bruno & Lizzie first arrived, I totally saw why she was in no way even able to walk one of the youngsters, let alone two or three dogs. But looks like at her go home lesson she had this all under control ;)

Pandemic Dogs Are Suffering! Many people that have gotten dogs throughout the pandemic are faced with challenges. As trainers we see so many dogs that haven’t gotten the proper exposure to everyday activities and they struggle. Issues such as leash reactivity, weariness of new things and people, and not being comfortable being left alone are through the roof already even with dogs as young as 5-6 months old.... Partially also because some of these dogs weren’t able to get any extra exposure to different people, sounds etc. while still with their mum/littermates because everybody is shielding themselves from everybody. Important milestones in their life’s are missed and it shows. People are having good intentions but it’s going all wrong. People thought it was a good time to try to raise a puppy because they have more time to dedicate to the puppythe problem is, they don’t know what they’re doing. Raising a puppy in general is hard and most people need help much sooner than they think. Raising a puppy during the pandemic is a whole other caliber of training knowledge required and well meaning people think they can do it on their own because they have extra time. So that is challenge number one. Challenge number two is the financial aspect. Well meaning people that thought they could raise their puppy well because they have extra time to dedicate, are now facing the behavoiur challenges of the dogs as well the financial challenge to get the dogs the help that they realize they need. Training becomes EXTREMELY more expensive once dogs show any sort of issues (and you get what you pay for) and with people spending more time at home and having potentially less income we now have a dilemma for dogs and people. For the next 10 years we’ll be seeing a lot more dogs with behaviour issues, people that are living extremely limited lives due to the lack of training they acquired or were able to acquire when needed and we may also see a lot of these dogs in shelters that may or may not ever find a new home. It’s a sad reality. Before getting a dog during these times, really understand what it all entails from training challenges as well as financial commitment to ensure the best life for you and the dog. And if you do decide to add a dog to your life, get the help you need not only when you can’t do it on your own anymore but when the journey starts where a professional can assist you from the get go so that you will face the least challenges in the future.

If you’re thinking of purchasing a purebred dog you want to make sure that you know how to find the right breeder and how to find the right breed. And if you’re looking to adopt from a rescue, you need to really understand the hidden language of rescues and how to really find the right dog for you. Yes, totally one of the exercises that is included in all of our programs and gets underestimated. Some people even like to skip it because it seems to be too simple of an training exercise siggestion to actually make a difference or some like to give up because in certain circumstances with certain dogs it’s hard. Ace was one of the hard ones but that’s no surprise cause he’a a Bull Terrier...Everything is hard with them and that’s why we love them so much ... But his owner,Who is located in Ontario and completed a distance program with us, decided to stick through with it I would longer than she wanted to because I told her to and to trust me And now she can reap the benefits of it. I wonder how many more dog owners would actually be extremely successful if they truly listen to their trainers and didn’t skip the inconvenient things So if you want a dog that can just chill in any public situation, even if right now you can’t imagine that that’s possible, we can help you

A short explanation on why you are still stuck with your dogs behaviors after watching hours and hours of YouTube training and why it had nothinh to do with the fact that it is online and not in person You may have noticed, that due to COVID more and more trainers are offering training programs that have some sort of online component. Of course due to Covid this was required for safety measurements but it was discovered by trainers all over, like it has been discovered by u...s already many years ago, that it comes with a bunch of other benefits AND Many trainers are keeping it as a part of their training programs now. Now here’s the thing, many dog owners still find themselves to have utilized and watch "training" on YouTube or other free online platforms and they’re just not really sure if they are fond of that "online" option in an actual paid training program because feel their efforts with it hasn't really worked well enough so far. So if you have found yourself having those concerns let me explain you something... If you compare coached training with online components (Or even structured online only programs ) to dog training videos you’ve watched on YouTube and think you don’t connect with it because it doesn’t really work for based on your YouTube experience.... You missed the point of YouTube! No professional will post hundreds and thousands of dollars worth of free content on YouTube just so you will never have to pay them to get actual results. YouTube is a marketing strategy. If you have watched YouTube videos for your dog’s training for free and you’re still needing help, the marketing strategy is working because apparently it didn’t answer all the needs that you had. Not because the online delivery of it didn’t work, but because you didn’t get all of the information. AND you probably also didn't get any straight forward strategy or support cause may have hopped from trainer to trainer. So before you scare away from any programs that have online content ask yourself why you are you still needing help after watching YouTube videos If you would talk to our recent students from the last few years, they would all tell you that the online components of our programs, in combination with other components that give you personalized support, was one of their favorite parts and what made their training so successful and allowed them to really train their dog in a capacity that worked for them. If you’re ready to put your doubts aside and trust the actual professionals that they know what they are doing and they will give you what you need rather than what you think you want.... Our next Basic Breakthrough session is starting April 1. Do you want to join us? www.k9possible.com

Welcome to Lizzie (1 year old Shepherd Afghan Street Dog X ) and Bruno (8 month old Great Pyreneese Cane Corso) They are both from the same household (a past client who has board & trained their oldest dog living with this pack 4 years ago) and are staying with us for the next 3 weeks to learn some doggy manners. Two super sweet dogs that just need to learn how to live with humans politely but also for the owner to learn how to live with them as they both display some p...retty breed specific behaviours that requires some understanding. If you are tired of your dog being impolite and would rather have a dog that lives with you peacefully without all the stress and frustration, we are completely booked for a board and train until late summer but we do have our basic breakthrough course starting on April 1. www.k9possible.com

Do you have a dog that struggles emotionally? A dog that has anxiety, is insecure, hyper active or similar? I recently made a post about genetics and how it affects a dog's training etc. and why I have incorporated so many more things into my training practices to help them. But in this particular video I explain you how exactly we can benefit the behaviour by telling you more about what happens in the dogs brain and how we can help create new habits through aromatherapy.... I think it often is unclear HOW MUCH of a difference this really can make for behaviour support because there wasn't a crystal clear explanation until THIS! https://youtu.be/_KpcddG4irU

When I recently updated my training programs, I added a whole section about something I feel isn’t talked enough thoroughly as a crucial part of training programs. And that is, genetics and how they influence training. All dogs are genetically predisposed to certain behaviors. Whether that is breed genetics (Shepherds like to control and herd, guardian dogs such may resource guard your home against strangers, items etc etc) but also... Breeding based genetics. Every being can be predisposed to certain behaviours by inheriting it from their parents/grandparents. Example if one or both of your dog’s parents was naturally more prone to anxious behaviour or exhibited a lot of anxious behaviours during pregnancy, there’s a good chance your dog is predisoped to be a more anxious dogs. It’s in their DNA. They are born with chemical reactions in their brain that will cause it and they themselves can't do anything about it. And it’s not something that is changed just with obedience training. It means that there may be certain limitations when it comes to training/behaviour expectations. But you know what the cool thing is... the brain is a muscle and it can learn to make changes which is what I want to teach you more about my free mini video series but also let me explain you a little more here. So what that means, if we teach the brain to produce less of the stress causing chemicals by exposing it to different reactions over and over, the brain can remember that (also called muscle memory) which then over time can lead to a dog that will experience less of those anxious behaviours in a natural way. Technically that’s exactly what anxiety medications do! BUT you don’t need them (not saying there isn't a place for them)! For one, not all dogs (just like humans) have such strong anxiety that they would need medication just to function, but it still affects their daily life. And second, a lot of the conventional medication that are prescribed come with a lot of side effects. There are natural ways that we can achieve exactly the same safely and effectively. And in combination with training you can get amazing results That’s why have started including natural therapies such as aromatherapy in to my training. The way aromatherapy triggers the limbic system of the brain, which is where many emotions are rooted, we are able to influence the emotions of animals and people and create new habbits. And as a natural result, your dog will also learn quicker and process things better which simply helps them adjust to everyday life in a much better way. If you are interested in learning more about this concept and how it works and what other benefits it can have, download my free Mini Video Series at www.k9possible.com/oils
