Episode 4 - Continuing our Rolls Royce story When the Maharaja finally showed up, delegation members asked him why this practice was taking place? In response, the Maharaja told them the story of how he was treated by their salesman when he visited their showroom in London. The RR executive were completely dumbfounded and unable to say anything except try to apologise profusely to the Maharaja and begged him to stop this demeaning practice of their great brand name. But he ...refused and sent them packing back to England with no success. Back in England, RR leadership decided that they must stop this terrible travesty. So they made the salesman apologise formally to the Maharaja, fired the salesman, and offered to buy back all the deformed RR cars from the Maharaja, for much higher prices. They immediately despatched a high level contingent delegation on a fact finding mission to ...India. When the contingent arrived in India at the province where the alleged practice has been taking place, and upon their request, they were taken to the different routes of the garbage collection to see first hand and with their own eyes what their beloved RR cars were subjected to. There worst fears and nightmare were confirmed. They demanded that the Indian company must cease and desist immediately. But, to their great dismay, the answer came back negatively. They tried hard to meet with the leadership of the Indian company to no avail. So they were forced to go back to England with total defeat. See more

One day, a good friend of mine, who was the manager of the Rolls Royce dealership in Qatar, and I were comparing notes on customer service and its key importance to businesses. My friend then shared with me an amazing true story from the archives of the Rolls Royce corporation, whic...h I would like to share with you all here. But because it is a bit long, I will divide it over couple of posts over couple of days. The story goes like this: back in the early 20th century, in London, England, on a fine afternoon day, a lonely and normal looking man, of Indian background, entered the main showroom of the Rolls Royce dealership. The attending salesman looked at this visitor in dismay and hastily appraised this lonely visitor and assumed that the visitor is a poor man who is looking at a product which he can never afford. Deciding, Therefore, that he does not want to waste his time with this kind of visitor and must get red of him very quickly, fearing that his presence may deter rich and serious customers from entering the showroom. So the salesman approached the visitor and abruptly and rudely brushed him out of the showroom, despite the visitor’s protests. See more
