Did you know that stranger danger is a normal milestone that babies go through? I don’t get (too) offended when the baby I’ve been treating since birth doesn’t want to come to me anymore With a little bit of help from mom or dad & a few distraction tactics, your baby won’t even notice he’s getting adjusted

If you had a hard day today, I see you. I hear you. I am you. This photo is not today, I didn’t smile even this much today. But I did come home and snuggle my dog. ... I took a nap. I spent a (very little) bit of time outside. I limited my time on social media. I relaxed my body and distracted my mind. If you need to talk, I’m always here. The sun will rise even when it feels like it won’t. See more

The part of my lifestyle that’s non-negotiable: Sleep! My life changed for the better when I started paying attention to my habits.I started to take stock of what made me feel great vs. what made me feel bad.For me, if I don’t get a good sleep I feel the effects the next day (brain fog + mood swings are the big ones for me)... What works for one person, doesn’t work for another which is why it is so important to be in tune with *your own body*. Determine your priorities and what is non-negotiable for your day-to-day routine! I really think you’ll feel a shift when you start living intentionally & prioritize what works for you. See more

Friendly reminder to start taking vitamin D supplements if you aren’t already!! The time change already has me feeling less energized, so I knew it was time to up my vitamin D intake. ... Here are two ways I’m increasing my vitamin D levels Taking a good quality vitamin D3 supplement. I’m sorry to tell you, but the cheap ones at the drug store can have a lot of filler in them and can be less absorbable by the body. It’s also great to look for D3 specifically as it’s better absorbed than other forms. Driving with the window down. If all of your exposure to daylight is through a car or office window, that’s unfortunately not going to do anything for your vitamin D absorption. Sometimes my morning commute is my only time to be in the sun, so I’ve been rolling up my sleeve and letting the sun reach my skin. Any other bright ideas to get more vitamin D? Let me know!! Lately, I’ve been trying to be more present in my personal life & distance myself from my phone when I’m at home. This has been hard to do in the past because I truly LOVE the creative outlet and interactions that this page provides. I also love that so many of you reach out to ask questions and book with me (seriously makes my day!) The reason I’m telling you this is because it may take me a little bit longer to get back to your messages as I try to unplug. I’ll be respon...ding as promptly as possible during my business hours, but any messages I receive outside of those will wait until the next day. With all of this being said, please continue reaching out and don’t take this as a reason not to message me. I’m SOOO grateful for all the amazing people (and now patients!) that have found me through social media

I recently had a mom bring her baby in and she spoke about how strong the baby’s neck has been since he was born. I explained that this wasn’t actually true strength, but rather tension in the spinal cord that was pulling on the back of the baby’s skull. This made it look like he was able to hold his head up on his own. This is called dural tension. ... Sometimes babies are otherwise happy and healthy, but more often than not, there are other symptoms that accompany dural tension such as: colic reflux sleep disturbances and most commonly undiagnosed tongue and lip ties If you have any questions or if you’re on PEI and are looking to book an appointment, feel free to reach out See more

Happy hormones & how to boost them naturally DOPAMINE Dopamine is a neurotransmitter that drives our brain’s reward system. Completing tasks & getting acknowledged for your accomplishments boosts this a ton. A way to do this on your own is setting a list of realistic goals and ticking them off as you finish them. ... SEROTONIN Serotonin is known as our mood stabilizer. Some great ways to increase serotonin is by spending time in the sun or in nature, and exercising. Meditation has also been shown to increase serotonin! OXYTOCIN This guy is famous as the love hormone. You can experience a boost in oxytocin through physical touch, spending quality time with loved ones, playing with babies or animals (yes please!!), or complimenting others. Try reminiscing on positive memories or sharing a laugh with a loved one - you’ll feel all the love! ENDORPHINS Endorphins help us deal with physical pain. If you’ve heard of a runners high, this is what that’s referencing! You can boost endorphins through exercise, eating, and laughing. I’m aiming to boost all four of these this weekend, hbu!! Tell me how you’re gonna get the happy hormones flowing below See more

How soon is too soon to see a chiropractor? It’s never too soon! This sweet boy was my youngest yet at just FOUR DAYS OLD Props to his mama and papa for getting him in for a check up & tune up so quickly!... I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: although birth is a natural process, it’s also a traumatic one. Maybe your delivery was quick and easy. Maybe you had a belly birth. Maybe additional measures had to be used. In any case, it’s never a bad idea to see a paediatric chiropractor to make sure your little one is happy and healthy. If you have questions about how i could help your little (or not so little!) one, my DMs are always open @ Dr. Kaitlyn Trainor See more

A common theme i’ve been seeing with my patients recently Increased stress. We all know what stress is, and you likely know what it feels like in your own body. But did you know that it can impact the way you interpret and cope with pain?... Research has shown that stress can either cause stress-induced analgesia (meaning you feel less pain), or stress-induced hyperalgesia (meaning you feel more pain.) This could be something that’s impacting you in your day to day life. Another time you could notice this, is if you’re being treated for pain or injury. If you’re seeing less of an improvement with treatments, stress could be playing a factor. It’s very common during stressful times to hold tension in different areas of the body which could lead to further discomfort. In my practice, I have noticed the need to do treat muscles that weren’t previously tight, as well as target the nervous system through chiropractic adjustments & acupuncture goodbye fight-or-flight, hello rest-and-digest!! I want to leave you with three tips to deal with a period of increased stress: Set reminders on your phone through your day to consciously relax your muscles (the jaw, neck and upper back/shoulders are big ones!) Talk to your healthcare provider about supplements that could support you in times of stress (vitamin D and magnesium could be great options!) Make an appointment with someone who can assess and treat your body. This could be a chiropractor, a physiotherapist, an osteopath, a massage therapist, a naturopath, etc. The choice is yours! It’s also important to note that you don’t need to wait for pain to see a practitioner. A proactive or holistic approach could be right for you, especially during stressful seasons of life. Sending peace & love to you. See more

It is truly the greatest honour to help babies feel their best in the first days/weeks/months/years of their lives My happy place is here with them. I’ve had parents come in with a variety of concerns. Some concerns have been common, while others have been new to both of us. ... trouble turning their head one way tongue tie trouble feeding colic irregular pooping or excess gas delay in meeting milestones birth trauma & wellness checks after delivery Other concerns have been new to me, too. I’ve done research and have learned new ways to best serve the little ones (and let mom + dad rest easier!!) Each new baby that comes into my office helps me learn how to better help future babies. It’s a win-win. Your baby feels better while helping other babies get better. If you’re wondering if your little one could benefit from chiropractic care, feel free to message me!
