You are not required to self-isolate if you meet ALL of the following criteria: You are not a household contact, AND You are fully vaccinated, AND You do ...not have any symptoms of COVID-19, AND You are not immunocompromised. ***If you work in a high-risk setting, see below before returning to work*** If you said yes to all of the above questions, self-monitor for COVID-19 symptoms daily for 10 days from the date on which you were exposed. Avoid non-essential visits to settings with vulnerable individuals (i.e., volunteering or visiting long-term care homes, shelters, or childcare settings). If you develop symptoms, self-isolate immediately and get tested. Do I need to inform my employer? All individuals who have been exposed to COVID-19, are encouraged to advise their employer and follow their guidance. ***Individuals who live, attend, work or volunteer in a high-risk setting, must advise their employer of the exposure. High-risk settings include hospitals, long-term care facilities, retirement homes, congregate living settings (i.e. shelters), schools and childcare settings. They do not fit snugly around the mouth, nose and chin and can allow... the respiratory droplets caused by COVID-19 to spread. The Porcupine Health Unit is issuing an alert. Through the Opioid Surveillance and Early Warning System an increase in suspected opioid overdoses has been ident...ified in the Cochrane District. If you suspect an overdose, call 911 immediately, administer naloxone if available, and wait for help to arrive. The Good Samaritan Act provides protection from arrest and breaches for simple possession. Although naloxone can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, it wears off within 30 to 90 minutes, so it is important to seek further medical attention. There are other ways to reduce the risks of an overdose, including not using alone, using small doses, and avoiding mixing substances. People who use drugs, and their family and friends, should be familiar with the signs and symptoms of overdose and how to provide first aid, including administering naloxone. Free Naloxone kits are readily available throughout the area at Porcupine Health Unit offices and at many pharmacies. A list of sites is available at: https://www.ontario.ca/page/get-naloxone-kits-free.
