Rockies Film Series presents: THE CONDUCTOR (Film) This content becomes available April 11 at 10:00 pm GMT-7, you'll have 7 days to start watching. Once you begin, you'll have 24 hours to finish watching. The Conductor - Based on a True Story... Have you ever heard of Antonia Brico? Don’t be ashamed if the answer to that question is no. Many people, even those with degrees in musical fields, have no idea who she is. The short answer is that Brico is one of the most exceptional modern conductors of our time. She’s the first American to graduate from the Berlin State Academy of Music, and the first woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic. The Conductor is her story. This inspiring transatlantic musical biopic is based on the brilliant, defiant spirit of Antonia Brico, Born in the Netherlands and brought to the United States as a child in the 1920s, Antonia’s musical gifts soon guide her to want to lead an orchestra, an unimaginable idea for a woman in the male-dominated orchestral music scene of the time. Dissuaded from such dreams by successive music teachers, Antonia is undaunted. She returns to the Netherlands where she meets the famous conductor Willem Mengelberg, who encourages her dream and arranges for her to study in Berlin. She also meets Frank, perhaps the love of her life but a somewhat conventional man who is not sure about Antonia’s ambitions. After two years of intense life and study at the State Academy of Music in Berlin, is Antonia ready to take up the baton? Will she be permitted to? And will her dream of conducting destroy her love life? Set against the riotous and increasingly darkening interwar historical period of the late 1920s and 1930, The Conductor is an engaging story of passion and commitment Access the following link for full details, the trailer and ticketing information https://watch.eventive.org/mk2mi//6047d77f63273c003ed516a5

Key City Theatre is thrilled to have been chosen to receive a Western Communities Foundation Infrastructure Grant from Western Financial Group. The funds will be used for our fire curtain - an important safety feature for our facility. What makes this grant extra special is the funds were raised right here in our community by the amazing employees at the Baker Street and Tamarack Mall locations. Throughout the year they undertake several fundraising activities including the Support the Cause Walk, basket raffles, and in branch auctions. Knowing that these funds were raised by our friends and neighbours really warms out hearts. A Big Thanks to all of you!
