Well Government sanctioned Cancel Culture strikes again. This time fun, community and therapy are half on the chopping block and half on the floor. As per mandate from the government of BC, Jams in the Key of Green (and all jams and open mics) will be suspended under further notice. I would just like to take this space to say that humans need connection to be healthy. We need music and dancing and self expression. Open mics and jam nights provide some of us this mos...t needed (and free) mental health therapy. Not just for the people who participate but for everyone in attendance. It radiates. Hopefully this blows over quickly because without essential social services like these the mental health consequences will far outweigh the damage the services like these have been removed to prevent. I dont know about other jams, but this one is clean and follows all protocol. I feel safer on that stage than i do at the grocery store or at the playground with my kids. Jams in the Key of Green is happy to do its part for public safety but lets just make sure the side effects aren't more dangerous than the symptoms. Tomorrow (Wednesday) From 9-1am 12 Kings Pub (12th & Kingsway) we will be jamming the house to the ground! ... If you have your own guitar or bass, bring that, if you have a mic, bring that too. But if you don’t you can use ours. I got some sterilizations techniques that i will employ after every use. We will set up with distancing in mind and *BONUS!* every singer will get their own coloured foam windscreen! Reservations aren't required but are highly recommended and separate tables of 6 or less is the way that happens. We want everyone to feel safe and groovy!
