Update: Tuition FREE! We have some great students who have learned through Kikino School and then to Journeys and JAwS who would do incredibly well in this line of work. Contact Donna at the office for STI eligibility for funding.

Good day parents! We are very excited to have begun registration for kindergarten next year (age 5 by December 31st). I have been so pleased to meet these littles during the open house opportunities that our kinder teacher is arranging. For the 21-22 school year, Kikino School will be offering PUF-Kindergarten-Grade 8 learning. We will continue to respond to the evolving Covid 19 pandemic and support families in isolation with our Technology Enabled Learning direction that supports concurrent instruction- meaning in person and virtual class teaching and learning. If you have any questions about Kikino School programming please do not hesitate to call me....Miss T.

It’s +17 out and +45 degrees in the greenhouses right now. What a great time to learn outdoors! The wooden stools that we got as part of a grant make awesome outdoor chromebook desks! We are excited for more warm weather!

Calling in attendance is a layer of safety built into NLPS procedures. We would never want to hear of a child left outside waiting for a bus and one was not coming. I have heard from some that this is an annoying procedure. That is ok. I will always keep student safety and well being as a school priority. Your child means everything to us, too. Keep warm; keep safe....Miss T

Multiple Bus Cancellations February 9, 2021 - There are multiple bus cancellations throughout the division for Tuesday, February 9, 2021. Please check the Bus Status app or nlpsab.ca to see if your route is affected. More cancellations may be added later this morning so please check before heading to your bus stop. Schools remain open and regular classes will proceed. Programming may be modified if large numbers of students are absent. If your child will be absent due to the bus cancellation, or for any other reason, please inform your child’s school. You can report an absence using the School Messenger app, at go. Schoolmessenger.ca or by calling your child’s school directly. Safety is our top priority and we want to make sure that all of our students who plan to attend arrive safely.

I have been notified that there will be no busses running due to frigid temperatures. Safety is number one! We ask parents to have learners work on online and offline stations in the google classroom. Have them go back to complete any missed assignments. Stay warm. Stay safe.

Kikino School 05.01.2021

Parents, at this time I cannot say which staff will be working from where. The google classrooms will be up by 9:30. Focus on the online and offline stations. Updates to each classroom will be made on the class facebook page.

Kikino School 03.01.2021

We have just been informed that busses and classes have been cancelled for tomorrow.

We are committed to supporting the continuity of learning for our students. Our enrollment this school year is now at 133 k-8 students. We recognize that some parents choose correspondence type approaches and take on the teaching aspect on their own. For others, they ask for the teaching knowledge and skills that our teachers have to design learning. Please see the list below of the priority knowledge and skills that we are working on with our face to face students to ensure that we are ready to teach remotely and our students can learn remotely. Our students need to be able to show us evidence of learning ongoing with the teaching process. These skills will help us get there. The more we see them here the better they will be with these skills.

I have been getting a lot of calls about the flu and covid. Here is an excerpt directly from AHS website. COVID-19 vs. Flu In some ways, COVID-19 is similar to influenza (also known as the flu), but there are also key differences.... Similarities Both cause respiratory disease. Both are spread by small droplets from the nose and mouth. Neither is spread through the air over long distances and times. Differences COVID-19 does not have a specific vaccine or treatment available. COVID-19 does not appear to transmit as efficiently as influenza: mainly people with symptoms seem to be spreading the disease, but asymptomatic transmission is possible and symptoms may be very mild, so transmission is possible even if the person is feeling well controlling its spread is possible when people with symptoms are isolated COVID-19 causes severe disease and mortality in more cases than the flu. On average: COVID-19 has resulted in 1 to 2 deaths per 100 cases Flu results in 1 death in every 1,000 flu cases Because COVID-19 can cause serious illness, it is critical to keep it from spreading by having people with symptoms follow mandatory isolation requirements.

Kikino School 08.11.2020

Reminder to parents: it is your responsibility to do the daily health screen tool. We are getting students daily who are coughing, headache, and stuffed sinus. AHS guidelines state that with these symptoms a student is to stay home, minimize contact with others until your symptoms resolve.
