Congratulations to our BASEF team for an incredible year! Despite the challenges of a pandemic, four King's students participated in this year's Bay Area Science and Engineering Fair, exploring their interests and growing in their understanding of science, technology, and math. Their remarkable research was rewarded with two silver medals, 1 bronze medal, and numerous awards. A special congratulations to Amy H. (Project: The Future of Xenotransplantation) and Arianna M. (Proj...ect: Determining the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Adolescents to the COVID-19 Pandemic) for securing a spot in the Canada-wide Science Fair Trip! We are grateful to Dr. Kahama for her expert guidance and leadership to the team. Once again, congratulations students, we are so proud of you! #bayscience #stemeducation #research

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16 This week's chapel offered students and staff the opportunity to pause and reflect through an off-screen and participatory Easter experience. In small groups, studentswalked through a carefully put together labyrinth, taking time to experience various sensory activitiesas they reflected on Jesus' love and presence. Here's a little ...sneak peek into what the students encountered. Happy Easter, King's! May you find comfort and blessing in Jesus' sacrifice and love for you. #easter #heisrisen #happyeaster #john3_16 #goodfriday

Hey students, here is a #wellbeingwednesday tip from Sam! Engaging in regular movement and physical activity can boost mental and physical health. Body movement releases endorphins, which can improve your mood and decrease stress, anxiety and depression. It also improves cognitive performance, including your memory and ability to concentrate in class.... Whether you take the stairs instead of the elevator or enjoy a 30-minute walk or run, we encourage you to prioritize sweating a little bit every day and notice how you feel afterwards! #takecarekings #bodymovement

We are so proud of Amy, Emily, Lucas, and Luciana who have been recognized for excellence at the 2020-2021 Ontario DECA Provincial Competition awards! A special mention to Luciana for coming in first place overall in her category for her judge. DECA Provincials (a business-based competition) bring in 7,000 to 9,000 competitors at this level. Our DECA team is expertly led by Ms. Spares who fully believes in the high caliber of this program and its ability to shape and stretch ...students who are exploring business as an exciting career path. She has taken the student leadership and competitive edge of King’s DECA to new heights. We also thank Mr. Chaffee for his growing knowledge and support of this worthwhile program. A special shout out goes to the student executiveteam of Amy, Ansh, Nicolette, Serwaa, and Zeeshan who raised the bar and took DECApractices to a whole new level. Resource (waste) management is a key part in our role as stewards of God’s creation. At King's, we are working on diverting as much of our waste from landfill as possible. This requires all of us to do our part in the 5 Rs -reducing, reusing, recycling, rotting (compost) and refusing (if you can’t reuse it, refuse it). Shoutout to our staff Creation Care team for encouraging us to be good stewards of our property, as a way of glorifying God and His creation, and recognizing... the educational value of doing so. Check out this video of some of our students demonstrating how to properly dispose of garbage, recycling, and organic materials in our clear & accessiblebins! #creationcare #responsiblewastemanagement #reusereducerecycle

In this week's chapel, students and staff reflected on last week's off-screen and participatory Easter experience. We explored questions like: What does Easter mean to you? What were some of the emotions you experienced? What brings you life?... Please enjoy this video walkthrough of last week's carefully put together Path to Abundance. Our sincere gratitude to the creative collaboration and vision of Mr. Veenstra, Ms. Anderson, Ms. Conlin, Ms. Manninen, Ms. Bankova, Ms. McFarlane, and actor Jason Hildebrand, and to the many volunteersfrom students to staff and mothers who pray, for helping to bring this idea to life. We also thank Ava M., Gabby M., Julia F., Ryan C. and Ms. Ralph for leading us in this week's reflection.

It was a real treat to have Student Council Execs, Spark Leaders, and several Ambassadors lead this week's Chapel. Focusing on our theme of faith, hope, and love, each class was greeted with some meaningful and fun, off-screen activities, led by their student peers. The chapels included encouraging scripture reading, some games to bring fun and inspire hope, and cards to spread love. Our at-home learners were encouraged to join in the reflection by watching a short video that... inspires us to look at the world and those around us with gratitude. Thank you to each student leading and participating in this week's chapels!

Last week, Mr. Oussoren's grade 9 geography class enjoyed some sunshine while planting seeds and learning about promoting creation, increasing food production, and encouraging life with Mr. Rick Wukasch. Once these seeds become healthy sprouts, they will be replanted in the community garden at The Meeting House Oakville where volunteers tend to the greens and eventually harvest them for local food banks. Swipe to see how much the seeds have grown in just one week!... #geographyclass #gr9geo #grade9 #geolearning #creation #foodproduction #plantingseeds #planting #localfoodbanks #communitygarden

Hey King's! Check out this #wellbeingwednesday tip from Isabella. When we prioritize our tasks and write down a plan of action, we feel a greater sense of control, since we are more productive and can stay focused on the task at hand. Setting a goal and visualizing yourself reaching your end goal is a helpful strategy. Motivation follows action. We need to take action first, and over time, small tasks will lead to a greater sense of achievement and motivation. You've got t...his! With gratitude to King's Board member, Ms. Karen Glass, we share this special message of hope, courage, and leadership recorded especially for the women of King's! Today, we celebrate all women in our King's community, and beyond, as we work together to empower and lift each other up through kind, caring, faithful, and authentic leadership. There is only one YOU, and we are glad you're here! Faith, hope, and love are the leadership trifecta. Hope is cultivated in the soil of... gratitude. Hope flourishes when it’s lived in the present tense. Hope is contagious when it’s shared. Be a leader who invests in what matters forever. - Danielle Strickland #internationalwomensday #leadership #hope

We could not be more pleased with the high calibre of King'sMUN21, a phenomenal collaboration of the King's Secretariat, Chairs, and valued alumni to offer the world a top-notch virtual conference steeped in deeper learning! Thank you to all involvedand congratulations on attracting the attention and respect of MUN Impact From King'sMUN Under-Secretary-General of External Communications: Last weekend, our King’s Model UN club successfully hosted the 7th Annual King’sMUN Conf...erence. The conference welcomed over 170 delegates from Ontario, California, New York, and Ohio. With the unprecedented times our world has found itself in over the course of the past year, the King’sMUN Secretariat based this year’s conference around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3, Good Health and Well-Being. This theme was intertwined throughout our Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and the conference’s nine different committees. A surprise pandemic crisis, civil wars, and struggles with diplomacy were thrown at delegates left, right, and centre. Overall, King’sMUN 2021 was an incredible accomplishment, skillfully planned by the King’s student body and staff, with Mr. Oussoren's guidance. - Serwaa S., Grade 11 Student "It was a privilege and honour to Chair the UNHRC committee. All delegates actively participated in the discussion, showing outstanding diplomacy and speaking skills. I was extremely impressed with the level of professionalism and knowledge of delegates. - Nicolette, UNHRC "One of my many highlights from Chairing is being able to develop a connection with the various Delegates, seeing how they interact with one another and then having to "go to work" to create a welcoming atmosphere which is ripe for debate." - Elijah, UNEDP #kingsmun #mun #munconference #leadershipdevelopment #learning #debate

We will remember them. This year we were inspired to reconsider how to commemorate Remembrance Day in a meaningful way. Our King's community experienced a powerful outdoor time of reflection and gratitude, distanced by meticulously measured Canadian flags, complete with a bagpipe originally played by a Canadian soldier, Clint Regan, to celebrate the end of WWI on Nov. 11, 1918 in Mons, Belgium. Thank you to all who contributed to a special time of remembrance. (Anthem beautifully sung by King's Student, Bella D.)

Safe activity and movement continue to be a priority at King's. Our PE theme, Fitness for Life, is the driving force behind daily physical activity. The goal is to develop fitness literacy for healthy lifetime habits, to understand the connection between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, and to foster an understanding of the bodies God has given us. Given that we are living in a time when the need to build and maintain a strong immune system is incredibly important, we are pleased to offer grade 9 and 10 students a fitness tracking device, to help them reflect on and challenge themselves to stay active and to be mindful of healthy rhythms in their lives. We are in awe that despite the challenges of connecting remotely, students were able to put together a beautiful Spring Concert for us. It is no small feat to practice and perform alone at home when you are used to making music together. We are grateful to all who gave their time, energy, and passion for the benefit of our ears, our hearts, and our spirits. . Please enjoy this special performance from the concert by members of the King's Chamber Choir with guest staff. . .... #ThrowbackThursday #Choir #Music See more

We had a blast celebrating our grads as they walked through the King's building one last time this year! . Students were greeted by King's staff and safely directed through the building to collect their special graduation gift as well as a booklet of memorable photos and a King's cookie, partake in a polaroid photo op, and leave a video message, all while being cheered on by King's staff both in the building and on digital screens throughout the building. While King's grads w...ere being blessed, they also had the opportunity to bless others by dropping off food items in Mr. De Boer's truck for a donation to Kerr Street Mission. . Congratulations class of 2020! We have been enriched by your presence at King's and wish you all the best in your next adventures. . . #KingsClass2020 See more
