Sonnema Concrete Services just posted a cool video of the work they did on the Knox stairs and wheelchair ramp awhile back. We're hoping to do more restorative work on the church in 2021 - more to come on this! https://www.instagram.com/tv/CKcKl6CJFVQ/

Knox Church is blessed to have a number of academic scientists in its congregation. One of them brought the linked symposium to our attention and it seems it would be of great interest to a number of people. Dr. Francis Collins is a Christian who has also served as the Director of the National Institute of Health under four American Presidents, and he is on the forefront of the US COVID-19 response. He is giving a talk on "Scientific and Spiritual Lessons in the Time of COVID" on Saturday, January 30 at 10am MST. The talk is open to all, and it's free although you need to register via the attached link. https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN_62KF6KYJQoitZWDhN4PLWw

Merry Christmas one and all! "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near." As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we may be apart and some may be alone, but the Lord is near each and every one of us, right now and every day.... The people of Knox Church chose to record our Christmas Eve service for you to enjoy. The video is posted on the opening page of www.knoxefc.ca. If you're free tonight, head out to your lawn or balcony and sing "Silent Night" when your cellphone turns to 8:00pm and bless your neighbours - God hears!

This year, Knox will have a pre-recorded Christmas Eve. service which will be available at www.knoxefc.ca shortly after noon on December 24. We know many will be missing the traditional Christmas Eve candlelight service. We encourage you to watch our service at your leisure, and then participate in this COVID-safe, city-wide initiative to bring the peace and beauty of Christmas to the front lawns and balconies of our neighborhoods ...

Knox has been very mindful of the pandemic with all our services on Zoom for several months. However, this Sunday, December 6, we will be having an in-person service for anyone who would like to get out of their apartment for a few hours! It'll be quiet as public health guidelines don't allow congregational singing, but God will be praised! Please join us at 10:30 and show off your Sunday-best mask.

Winter Whyte Light Up is starting November 28th in @OldStrathcona, and we want to decorate! Thus we're having an Itty Bitty Fundraiser. We have some volunteers putting our decorations up, but we're asking people to donate $10 toward the lights. Lights aren't that expensive (only $280!), so if we raise more, the funds will go to our building restoration fund (because bricks cost way more than lights). To donate and receive an instant tax receipt, you can go to our Canada Helps page and choose Knox EFC Building Restoration Fund, please indicate Christmas lights in your message. https://www.canadahelps.org//knox-evangelical-free-church/ Photo by Jude Beck on Unsplash

Movies sometimes poke fun at church people who show up at the door with a casserole - hey, it's our specialty! However, as more people come down with COVID or are quarantined in Edmonton, many of us will have family, friends and neighbours that we want to help by bringing a meal. What's your go-to dish to prepare when you want to take a meal to someone? (Recipes and tips encouraged!) Photo by Jonathan Pielmayer on Unsplash.com.

A virtual Young Adult Bible Study is starting up tomorrow! Pastor Doug will be facilitating the group through the "Experiencing God" series. It will be Mondays at 7:00pm. Everyone who considers themselves a young adult is welcome to join; you don't have to be a Knox attendee. Please email the office, info(at)knoxefc.ca, by Monday morning to get the link.

Jesus commands us to "Love your neighbor as yourself." We were really excited to be having our first indoor, in-person service this Thanksgiving Sunday. However, the COVID situation for our city is rapidly deteriorating. Even though Alberta Health is allowing faith services to proceed, we feel Knox should go the extra step of cancelling in-person gatherings the next few weekends. So, our Sunday morning service is going to remain entirely on Zoom for a few more weeks. Pastor Doug is going to broadcast Thanksgiving from the church though, so we can have a bit of Knox atmosphere in our homes :-) Our Sunday service is open to anyone, please FB message or email the church by 9pm Saturday and we'll get that link to you Sunday morning. Happy Thanksgiving!
