There is still no news as to when IRCC will return to Express Entry draws for candidates in the Federal Skilled Worker Program and the Federal Skilled Trades Program. However, if you are interested in immigrating to Canada through the Express Entry system and need assistance with your application, please contact us at [email protected] or (647) 749-7472. #canadianimmigration #expressentrycanada #immigrationlawyer

The Express Entry system is a popular route for many individuals who seek Canadian immigration. However, only candidates with the highest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) will receive an invitation to apply for permanent residence. It is important that you take the necessary steps to ensure that you rank higher for the Express Entry pool. #canadianimmigration #expressentrycanada #immigrationlawyer

Only foreign nationals who are eligible may travel to Canada as visitors, and the restrictions vary depending on the country from which you are travelling. If you are eligible to travel at this time, you must use ArriveCAN prior to checking in at the airport or crossing the border to submit your travel and contact information; quarantine plan; and COVID-19 symptoms self-assessment. If you are ineligible to travel, you can still apply for a visitor visa. However, if your appli...cation is approved, you will not be able to travel to Canada until the travel restrictions are lifted. If you need assistance with your visitor visa application, please do not hesitate to reach out to us at [email protected] or (647) 749-7472. #visitorvisa #canadaimmigration #immigrationlawyer

Some examples of changes that may lead foreign nationals to re-apply for a Canadian visitor visa include: 1. You are eligible for deemed rehabilitation 2. You were previously deemed inadmissible for medical reasons, but your condition has since changed 3. Your application for criminal rehabilitation has been approved... It is important to take this into consideration before re-applying for a visitor visa. #canadianvisitorvisa #canadianimmigration

The Canadian study permit is a popular option for international students interested in immigrating to Canada. A common question some individuals have concerns their status once their study permit has been approved.Once an individual's study permit has been approved and they arrive in Canada, it is important to satisfy several requirements in order to maintain legal status in Canada. International students are required to: 1. Always maintain enrolment at a Designated Learning... Institution 2. Make progress towards completing their program 3. Adhere to conditions set out on their study permit 4. Cease studying if they no longer satisfy the requirements #studypermitcanada #immigrationcanada #immigrationlawyer

On January 8, 2021, the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced a new temporary policy that will help post-graduation work permit (PGWP) holders. If you are an international student who has been impacted by the ongoing covid-19 pandemic while in Canada and have an expired or expiring PGWP, you can apply for another open work permit with a duration of 18 months. With this new policy, former international students will have an opportunity to remain in Canada and obtain the work experience required to apply for permanent residence. Applications will be accepted from January 27 to July 27, 2021. Contact us at 647-749-7472 to find out more about this policy. #immigration #immigrationlawyer #internationalstudents #permanentresident

Canada began holding program-specific draws when the pandemic first started and returned to all-program draws towards the second half of 2020. However, since the start of the new year, Canada has conducted draws for only candidates involved in the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and the Canadian Experience Class and has issued 5,374 ITAs. On January 20, 2021, Canada held its third Express Entry draw of 2021, inviting 374 PNP candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking Sy...stem (CRS) score of 741 points. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau set out several important goals and priorities for Canada’s immigration department in the new supplementary mandate letter he provided to the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, on January 15th, 2021. Some of the key issues include improving IRCC’s application processing times, creating new immigration programs, and the 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan. As announced back in October 2020, the Plan will admit over 400,000 immigrants per year for the next three years, which is the highest in its history. Individuals working in the health care sector play a critical role in society, and that is evident now more than ever. To commend them for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship (IRCC), the Honourable Marco E. L. Mendicino, announced on August 14, 2020, that Canada will pursue a temporary measure providing asylum claimants who are employed in the health-care sector during the pandemic, a pathway to permanent residency. This new measure allows a particular subset of asylum claimants in Canada to apply for permanent residency if they satisfy the requirements. We were delighted to have Tenzin Namdol serve as our summer student! Here is what Namdol had to say about her decision to intern at KYL Law Firm: "Prior to entering law school, I was confident that earning a legal education would position me to become an effective advocate and leader for those most in need of a voice. As an immigrant myself, I know from first-hand experience that immigration and refugee lawyers perform meaningful work for their clients. Accordingly, I am inve...sted in this area of law and I value and share KYL Law Firm’s avowed commitment to its clients and its espousal of a compassionate approach when tasked with challenging cases. As an intern at KYL Law Firm, I was exposed to diverse work and honed my legal research and writing skills. I am deeply grateful to Kelicia and KYL Law Firm for affording me an opportunity to evolve as a student, advocate, and leader." Namdol was an excellent addition to our team and we were pleased to have her as our summer student!

Express Entry: Express Entry is a system used by the Canadian government to manage the intake of applications for three economic immigration programs. July 8, 2020, marked the first day since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic that Canada held its all-program Express Entry draw. Since the start of the pandemic, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held program-specific draws, which included only the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and the Canadian Exper...ience Class (CEC). On July 22, Canada returned to program-specific draws, resulting in the IRCC issuing invitations to 557 PNP candidates. The following day, Canada held another program-specific draw with 3,343 CEC candidates receiving an invitation. The system's return to program-specific draws alludes to the pandemic's impact on Canadian immigration. #expressentry #immigrationcanada #immigrationlawyer
