These recent videos continue to show insane actions of white people in power. This power needs to be questioned, challenged and dismantled. Question the structures of the policing system, the educational system and the political system. We need to stand up and make daily efforts to acknowledge the inequalities and do what we can to bring awareness and true changes. My POV as a white man married to a black woman is that I get a front row seat to witness all of the inequalities... and racism that occurs, but I get to do it from the comforts of my white skin. No matter if we are traveling abroad, living in the city or in our own community, I witness blatant racism or micro aggressions very frequently. If these actions happened to me personally, I would probably shut down emotionally and complain to anyone and everyonebut it happens so often that the black community just continues to push forward. Its scary, but we need to be bold and strong. Its on us to be at the forefront of this fight for justice and equality. We need to lead conversations, call our friends out on their shit and no longer take ignorance as an excuse. As we use these quarantine times to reassess our lifestyles and goals, lets also reflect on the types of people we associate with and give energy to and to create new patterns that are open to change. What can we do? Buy books by black authors from black bookstores (adifferentbooklist.com), watch documentaries (such as Ava DuVernays, 13th), support black artists, follow black leaders who push to support their brothers and sisters and donate to black organizations. Do research into the people and businesses you support. We can make an effort with our money and our actions. Talk to your family members including children. We need to do more than just listen to black music and watch the NBA, this is about speaking up and fighting for all black men, women and children. The human beings who have the same goalswho just want to be safe and happy. White people must be proactive in deprogramming our mindsets and re-educating ourselves.

I am so excited to be open for my 10TH YEAR at the Fish n Chips. It is crazy how time flies. I am forever grateful to all my guests over the years...and thanks to all of my supporters, I made it into the Trip Advisor Hall of Fame for continued excellence. Shout outs to my first ever customer, Annette, who trusted me to make my first meal back in 2010.

Last Day of the Season!

Its so cool meeting new people everyday. Its even cooler when those new people become familiar and over the years they become friends. I am so fortunate to have so many friendships that stem from the Fish n Chips. Ed and Mare have been coming up for years and we make sure to get a pic each season. Manitoulin is so special and it brings so many awesome types of people together. #guestoftheday

Thanks to everyone who came to Providence Bay and supported me at the Fish n Chips this summer! Our season has been a great success. We will be extending our hours to every Thursday-Sunday throughout September! We typically dont stay open in September, so please help get the word out!

There is a planned power outage island wide today. We will open for dinner 4-8PM.

Always grateful for the support I receive at the Fish n Chips. Friends flying @porterairlines saw a mention in the re:porter mag, "we drove down to Providence Bay for a meal at Lake Huron Fish & Chips...after feasting on perfectly flaky, locally caught fish and crispy fries, we curled up in our little cabin."

The Fish and Chips has been so blessed to have Benny Albs and Carli Albs working for the last two summers. During the winter months, they have been volunteering in Nagpur, India. They established an art program and a healthy eating program within a boys school of 400. Thank you so much to everyone who supported their initiative at the Fish n Chips! They are always in need of support, so please contact them if you wish to help in any way.

We were just 24 and 17 when it all started. Patty has helped me build the fish n chips into what it is today. We have won 2 Trip Advisor awards over the last two years and most comments contain a compliment to Pats friendliness, loud voice and good cookin. Love ya brother, good luck back at school!

I have been so busy and excited getting opened up for the season that I forgot to mention that Im open Thursday-Sunday 11AM - 8PM until July. Fans from all over are already swarming in yay!

This past summer a group from Toronto were filming on the island for a series they are calling North of Bloor...they stumbled into my restaurant and we had a quick chat on camera in between me flippin fish...I remember telling them how I was going to buy the Home Hardware and now that has come to reality! My first write up in the paper...I think it has been shared a bit already, so maybe youve seen it...but for those who havent, Im so excited about this future opportunity. Back in TO for the winter...my main man Dayne visited me from Manitoulin and we tried fish n chips and beer in Kensington Market.

Fresh out of the lake from our night time staff swim at the end of a great season. Today was my final day open! We sold out of everything by 6PM. I have such a great following and support for the fish n chips. I gave you my everything this summer for 129 days...all I have left are my undies. Truly, from the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone.

David and Stephanie (+ one more, come February) are great supporters and such a beautiful couple. Go visit them at Buoys in Gore Bay, where David is head chef or at Burt Farms where Stephanies family have been providing top notch organic meats for years and years. Billy Madison is one of my favourite comedies of all time. I especially love any scene that takes place in his giant tent/bedroom outside of his parents mansion. My version is simpler and in the woods at the edge of the river. Ive worked 108 days in a row and have 22 left! Getting a chance to fall asleep outside by the river helps me keep going! Thanks for all the support this summer

MPP Michael Mantha stopped by for a visit today. He really cares about the North and his Algoma Manitoulin district; he was excited to see my hard work being appreciated.
