Although I don't spend much time in the house in the summer my weekly bouquet is a staple in the kitchen. It helps me appreciate the still moments just a bit more and I find the bouquets presence bookends my day with appreciation. Farming in February (for us) Spreadsheets, lists, shop projects, ski days and seed orders arriving. It may surprise some of you to hear there is "farm work" in the winter but it's true. We're thinking of the whole picture, timeline, growth, improvements, persistent challenges, present needs, future needs, shifting from micro to macro focus is a constant practice. Mixed vegetable farms are complex systems. On a farm in a single da...y we can go from putting out the "fires" of a water line blow out, seedlings getting stressed out by heat to harvesting beautiful blooms and then cultivating to kill weeds and keep crops healthy. The general stoke of the farm is something we put effort into creating & cultivating the same way we do with plants.
