SE Edmonton Crime Report at a Glance - Week 51 Hello everyone, above is the weekly crime map. A particular trend that we are seeing is theft of catalytic conver...ters. The most common vehicles being targeted this month are domestic cars Pontiac Sunfires, Pontiac Grand Ams, and Chevrolet Cavaliers. The majority of events are occurring over the evening hours and on weekends, with vehicles most often parked on parking pads/driveways off alleys. Many of these thefts occurring in SE Division are in the industrial sectors along Calgary Trail, however there have been some incidents in residential locations (Lee Ridge / Richfield ), and parking lots of stores ( Walmart in SE Common ). So please be aware of anyone under a car that doesn’t look like they should be, and please ensure you call the Police. Wildrose and Larkspur have seen theft from and theft of auto incidents over the last week. We were able to locate a problem location in that area that most likely contributed to many of the incidents. This location is currently being dealt with through community standards and hopefully will no longer be an issue in that area. Other locations that the EPS is focusing on this week is Charlesworth. There was some good video posted of two subjects walking up to homes and trying car doors parked on the front driveway. These two subjects were driving a red Nissan xterra. It looks like they are doing these crimes down in the Summerside and Charlesworth communities. Again please call Police if you see a vehicle like this acting in a suspicious manner. Also if you have any video of incidents involving this type of video with these two subjects please contact the EPS. Having good video goes a long way in identifying these subjects and apprehending them before they victimize more people. That’s it for this week. Remember to not leave your vehicles running and unlocked and if going shopping put your valuables out of sight so the thieves do not have an easy target. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year Sgt PENNO P.S. We had some great video come in on thieves stealing packages from people’s porches. We were able to apprehend the thieves and return the property. Greta work on by everyone.
