I hope everyone had a great summer! It’s hard to believe that it has been six months since I started my own Massage Therapy practice and I couldn’t be happier. As we approach the end of the year and my available times for 2018 start to fill up, I would like to give everyone a heads up that I am currently booking 7-8 weeks out. If you are looking for reoccurring massage appointments I recommend booking at least three appointments in advance to ensure I get to see you. The reas...on being that it is easier for me to move your appointment around than it is to find you a vacant appointment. I would also like to inform everyone that with a new school year starting I will soon begin my third year of Osteopathy. This program will keep me in Halifax for one week out of every month for the duration of the school year (September-May). I apologize for any inconvenience this absence may cause but please note that it is in an effort to increase my knowledge of physical treatments. Best wishes, Lauren

I am so lucky to be able to wake up every day and feel truly passionate about what I do and have a fulfilling career. I am also blessed to be able to successfully run my own business with your love, kindness & support. I started my career with massage but I wanted to help people more than just on a month to month basis. It wasn’t enough to treat people’s symptoms, for example a sore back as it will continuously be there until you treat the cause of the pain. It wasn’t until... I found my love of osteopathy where everything started to click together. It’s about treating the cause of your symptoms rather than making the pain feel better temporarily. It’s about asking WHY? Generally, the places we feel pain are the areas that are moving too much. They are compensating for an area that is not moving enough. The areas that are moving too much is like a mom being pulled in 20 different directions it is sending signals to your brain that it is overstimulated, overworked and is facilitated causing pain. The area that isn’t moving may be asymptomatic. It’s like your rolled up in a ball on the couch its fine if it stays there not moving. It is inhibited, it isn’t sending a constant signal to your brain so pain isn’t felt. Stay tuned as I will make posts to help educate you on Osteopathy and on your body on how it works.
