Shouting it from the rooftops with every megaphone we can find ! Registration for Lawn But Not Forgotten, our Virtual Trivia Tournament, is now open! Head over to our website lawnsummernights.com to register your team of 4 and get ready to bring the fun off the greens and online this summer! www.lawnsummernights.com
As you all know this year is anything but business as usual, and since our business has historically been lawn bowling, its time to get a little unusual. We co...uldnt let the summer go by without gathering our friends, giving them an opportunity to impress us with their skills and pun-making abilities, and adding in some friendly competition but we needed to find a way to do it virtually. Were super excited because weve found a fun alternative to tide us all over until we can get back on the greens: introducing Lawn But Not Forgotten, a Virtual Trivia Tournament! Thats right folks, this July were coming to you LIVE from your WiFi connection, featuring special guests, skill-testing questions, and of course the same LSN vibe you know and love. Our July lawns might be gone (for now), but they arent forgotten, so start brainstorming those trivia team names and get ready, because registration for Virtual Trivia opens June 22!

#mybadgenes Cystic fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting young Canadians, and yet there are many people who dont know anything about it. In recognition of cystic fibrosis awareness month, were launching a project of awareness, acceptance, and support, inspired by a boy named MacKenzie who just happened to have cystic fibrosis. Like all CF kids (and adults) MacKenzie had to take over 50 pills every day. When a friend saw this and asked if someone cou...ld "catch" what he had, Mac responded: "No, I just have bad genes." The other kid was wearing torn up pants and said "I have bad jeans too! It became a joke among a group of kids who rallied around their friend to show him that he wasnt any different. Today, we want you to meet Aalaya Fleming who also has "bad genes" she is going to share a little bit about what their life is like with CF: "It has its ups and downs, it has given me challenges Id never think Id have to overcome. Having CF really sucks sometimes but its pushed me to work harder and be a better me!" Now its your turn to help us raise awareness around CF. We challenge you to show off your "bad jeans" in support of our "bad genes". Share a photo of you wearing your worst pair of jeans and follow the instructions below for your chance to win a $250 gift card to @frankandoak (and maybe upgrade those jeans?) or make a donation to CF Canada via the link in our bio. Every summer, Lawn Summer Nights is often the first introduction many of you have to CF and we dont take that responsibility lightly. The reality is that CF i...s often an invisible disease, and it can be easy to forget the daily processes people with CF go through just to manage their symptoms. After all - theres no cure. When youre at LSN having a beer, dressed up in lawn gnome outfits, and bowling on the greens alongside someone who later shares their experience living with CF, it hits home how much of the disease happens behind closed doors. A lot of the time, you wouldnt even know they were sick. In recognition of CF awareness month, tomorrow were launching a social media campaign to share the reality of life with CF as a young professional in Canada. Its a project about awareness, acceptance, support - and of course some fun. Today we wanted to share the inspiration behind it, and it starts with a boy named MacKenzie who just happened to have cystic fibrosis. Like all CF kids (and adults) MacKenzie used a respirator and did chest physio every day to help keep his lungs healthy. Also every day, Mac had to take over 50 pills. One day a friend saw all this and asked if anyone could "catch it". Mac replied: "No, I just have bad genes." The other boy was wearing torn up pants and said, "I have bad jeans too!" It became a joke among a group of kids who rallied around their friend to show him that he wasnt any different. Keep an eye out for our campaign launching tomorrow to remember Mac and all the young Canadians with CF that have their own "bad genes" - plus find out how you can share your own bad JEANS to help us raise awareness (and a chance to win a pretty sweet prize!). Hey Chatham, we miss you! Do you miss us? May is typically when we would open registration for LSN, and though we wont be bowling, we are still working hard to bring you some alternative methods of fun so stay tuned! #chatham #lsn #lawnsummernights #ck #CKont #cysticfibrosis #cf #livingck
To say we miss these days would be an understatement, and that makes this announcement especially hard. We have been watching the COVID-19 situation and response grow every day, and while we remained hopeful that we would still be able to get on the greens this July, the reality is that with so much uncertainty, we no longer think thats possible, or even responsible. We will not be opening registration for LSN in May, and we will not be bowling in July. So what does this mea...n for all of you? Well first, we want to say were NOT cancelling Lawn Summer Nights. While bowling is a huge part of what we do, and fundraising is super important, we are also a community - twenty cities across Canada were set to bowl this summer and we know those teams have a lot to offer off the greens as well. We are thinking about a ton of different ways we can still make this summer fun, and we encourage you to stay connected with us here on social, and on your local social accounts, to find out how were going to do that. (By the way, if you have any ideas, send them our way. Hit up the comments below with any virtual options youd be down for!). It also means that were still here, and were prepared to change as quickly as the situation changes. If things look brighter later in the year, we arent going to let a little thing like weather get in the way of a good time. So yes, Lawn Summer Nights 2020 is going to look a lot different. But its still going to have the same heart. Stick with us, and stay home. #lawnsummer #livingck #cysticfibrosis #CKont #community
