We are going to try out public skating during the schools days off Nov 11-13 as a trial to see how it goes. Hockey games are firing up this weekend. We want to ensure everyone's safety. Please follow the Covid regulations throughout the building and listen to your hoc...key teams covid reps. We have created a seating plan below. We have also placed arrows to direct traffic along with socially distanced markers. You must stay seated throughout the entire game, unless using the washroom or stepping outside. Please do not loiter in our lobby, it is small and it becomes difficult to maintain a social distance. Children must accompany parents sitting in their socially distanced cordon the entire time, they cannot play in the hallways or the lobby. The facility will be sanitized on a regular basis. Hand sanitizing stations as well as hand washing stations are within the facility. Masks are mandatory to come and watch the game. Do not enter if you are feeling unwell, ask a family member to video tape or do a Facebook live stream of the game. Let's keep our facility safe and ensure our youth get to continue to play their entire hockey season!

As the Skating Arena winds down for the season we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to talk about how "living local" affects our arena. Did you know: 1... month of Power at the arena costs minimum $6000.00 1 month of Energy at the arena costs minimum $1200.00 That is over $7000.00/month just to run the plant and provide a heated building! The rink kitchen provides a substantial amount of money that goes towards these operational costs. On a good year the kitchen revenues are $25,000.00 +. That is enough funds to pay the power and energy for 3.5 months of the year! A typical season is 6 months. OR cover just over HALF the wages that are paid out to our staff that keep the facility in tip top shape! Keep this in mind next time you are "stuck working a kitchen shift" or "stuck at the rink allllll day". Your arena needs your support and you are making a HUGE difference!

Please RESPECT all SKATERS on the ice during public skating. If there are non hockey players utilizing the ice for Public Skate we ask that you split the ice in half and refrain from shooting the puck across the ice. If this cannot be obeyed there will be ABSOLUTELY NO HOCKEY STICKS AND PUCKS ALOUD ON THE ICE during public skating. ... Parents please remind your hockey players if you are sending them to the rink. Parents that are their supervising have permission to tell hockey players to move to the other end of the rink or ask them to leave the ice if they are not following the rules. It is also important that all non hockey players stay on their half of the ice during public skate if their is a game of shinny going on. Thank you

Dear skating arena user groups: The Langenburg Skating Arena is reaching out for your assistance. At this point in time the arena kitchen will not be able to open. According to the Saskatchewan Health Authority no public kitchen can operate without a certified Food Safe cook. Please take the time to carefully review the following: ... 1. The Langenburg Community Development Board favorable suggestion would be to hire an inventory manager to take care of ordering, prep etc (we have someone for this) and then get a group of people (preferably 6 or more people willing to take their food safety) that could be scheduled to work in the kitchen. Ideally having a group of cooks would alleviate the problems of "being stuck in a rink kitchen every night and weekend". The candidates can be anyone 15+ in age. This would be a paid position. If you are a parent or have a teenager who spends lot's of time at the rink consider this an opportunity to make a bit of income while ensuring our rink kitchen is open and available to our user groups and visiting teams. The course will be paid for. The course is an 8 hour course in Yorkton dates TBD. OR you can do it online and then would have to get to Yorkton to take the written exam. IF you chose to take this course and be a paid cook YOU WOULD BE RELIEVED OF YOUR VOLUNTEER DUTIES required to work in the kitchen for being involved in hockey or canskate. 2. To tender the kitchen out. With this option you are relieved of your volunteer duties in the kitchen however: cost of your Rink Fees will go up by atleast $75.00/skater. This could be lessened by participating in fundraising activities. 3. To not open a rink kitchen. This would be a huge loss for our facility and for our user groups and guests and is not at all what we want to do. Carefully review the options. This is becoming time sensitive we will need to have cooks in place or a new plan by September 30th. If you are willing to lend a hand and cook or have any feedback, questions or ideas please contact Juli at the Rec Office (306)743-5176 or [email protected]
