We would like to extend our thanks to Premier Dennis King for defending the decision to allow seasonal residents into PEI. To the Islanders that are raising "concern" over the move, and especially to the 1,500+ individuals that have signed a petition demanding that the province reverse this decision, we ask that you do some basic research before you speak to this issue, or sign the petition. We, the owners of the LH&B Motel, are Nova Scotia residents. However, we are also par...t of a large Souris family whom we spend most all of our summer with. We employ six people in the Souris area every summer. And we have invested a significant amount of money into the Souris community. We used local talent and local companies when we rebuilt the Motel. So, before you take the position that you don't want us in PEI this year, before you assume that all "summer residents" have lesser right to utilize the properties that they have invested money into, we would again say, do some basic homework. The large majority of us are family, neighbours, caring individuals and, in many cases, employers. I can not overemphasize the hurt that we felt reading the comments by people who we thought appreciated us coming to PEI, telling us they don't want us to be there (see CBC coverage).
