It was great being part of the Home Away From Home: An Art for Integration Event organized by the Mixed Company Theatre along with their many community partners. It was an eye-opening performance and you should definitely catch the last show today. Here are some of the moments from yesterday evening.

With the rapidly fading light, it was clear to see how the tiger became a master of the elements. Slipping in and out of the shadows, it flirted with the light and intrigued me with its mystery. The thought of these mysterious and dangerous predators lurking in the dark was fear-inspiring enough for hundreds of claims, across Asia, of ‘were-tigers’, people who transformed into tigers in the darkness of night to instill terror in villages. The Sumatran tiger is found on islands off Indonesia, it is the smallest and darkest of all the tiger subspecies, and also the most maned. The darkness of its coat and even its longer than usual whiskers is perfect for navigating the dense dark jungles where it belongs. Unfortunately just 400 of these gorgeous creatures exist today.

Because they are extremely hard to find and terribly difficult to spot, these elusive cats are nicknamed the ‘Ghosts of the Mountains’. They have been documented living at altitudes of 5859 m, (that’s higher than the tallest mountain in Canada), absolutely unheard for big cats and have been known to chase prey up and down sheer vertical slopes. Just 4000 of these Snow Leopards exist in the wild. Time is running out.... You could help by making a small donation(refer WWF link below)
