With the passing of Adi Unterberger, Kimberley has lost one of its original artists and performers. In 1982, Adi was one of the first musicians on stage at our ...local Homegrown Coffee House, and he has supported the Kimberley Arts Council - Centre 64 ever since. His enthusiasm, talent, and passion will be missed by many. Oktoberfest won't be the same without him. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to his wife Erika and family. Welcome to July and the 3rd stage of re-opening in BC! Please note: Your health & safety as well as the health & safety of our staff and volunteers is very impo...rtant to us. Therefore, we will be keeping the mask policy at Centre 64 in place for now. Once more and more people have received their second immunization, we will review our policy. We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Image created by Genevieve Blais (genevieveblais.com)

We are excited about the restart plan, because it give us hope for the future, but our reality is considerably more complex than it seems. The most important th...ing to remember is that the 4-step restart plan will only proceed if case counts and hospitalizations decline and vaccinations increase and the timeframe and steps announced can and will be adjusted accordingly. Our reality is that if we are able to have, for instance, an indoor gathering of up to 50 people, those people would have to be seated with the required social distance (no walking around and mingling allowed) which doesn’t leave room for that many people in the spaces at Centre 64. We will also have to factor in the maximum number of people allowed in the building (including staff and volunteers). While yesterday's announcement stated that BC might be up and running again by September, we - specifically the entertainment industry - were given no specific details at this point on what this might look like (Consultation with the sector will begin for the next step in indoor and outdoor organized gatherings). What we do know is that every single event we plan will still have to be following Worksafe BC and Interior Health COVID-19 protocols, guidelines and the health safety plan (specifically put together for the event) no matter if it is happening indoors or outdoors. Health safety plans will need to be adjusted for each phase of the restart plan. Volunteers and staff helping with the events will need to be properly trained (a 90- minute COVID-19 safety training video might be available for our sector within the next couple of weeks). An important thing to take into consideration is how difficult it is to control the public at events. Our administrator Christine Besold has been and will continue to meet with our industry peer group on a regular basis, and she’s making sure we’re staying up-to-date with COVID-19 developments and Worksafe BC and Interior Health COVID-19 protocols and guidelines. We’re doing everything we can to move forward as much as possible during this restart while keeping the safety of our staff and the community a priority. Thank you for your patience and support!
