LPRC would like to honour the month of February as Black History Month. As a harm reduction service organization, we know how things like an individual's race and ethnicity, can greatly affect the outcomes of services that are available and accessible, therefore we strive to provide a space for Black voices, stories and experiences. Throughout the month of February, LPRC will be sharing stories and posts to observe these voices and experiences on our social media pages. We we...lcome people to follow along as we highlight the work and achievements of Black activists, leaders, artists and Black Canadian historical figures. While members of LPRC come from various backgrounds, each with their own unique stories, we recognize our positions as non-Black folks. Therefore, we wish to not speak on behalf of the Black communities, but instead promote and celebrate the lives and work of influential Black figures. We are thankful for these people and their accomplishments, and for those who continue to hold us accountable as an organization in the past, present, and future. See more

Or give us a call at (778) 753-5830 to schedule for a pick up time outside of these hours. These are available to anyone who might benefit from them. Thank you to United Way of the Lower Mainland and United Way Southern Interior BC for providing us with the products!

December is here, and for LPRC, that means our Annual General Meeting is coming up! Before this year’s AGM, we would like to introduce you to the wonderful people who make up our current Board of Directors! Introducing Kristin Stratulat (she/her)! Kristin graduated from the University of British Columbia with a BA in Sociology in 2006 and has been working in social services and non-profits ever since. Her passion lies in helping others to reach their full potential and be the...ir true, authentic selves. After working with predominately with seniors, Kristin moved into a position with the Provincial Government earlier this year and is excited to continue her fight for the underserved. She joined the board at LPRC in 2019 as she was truly passionate about serving her community through supporting LGBTQ rights and working to battle the opioid crisis. When not at work or volunteering, Kristin lives at Anytime Fitness, where weightlifting has helped with the Covid Blues. She’s been married for 12 years and is the proud mom to two fur-babies. Our vision at Living Positive Resource Centre is to celebrate diversity and to ensure that everyone can live a healthy and valued life. Therefore, we support the Black Lives Matter movement, fully and wholeheartedly. No one should fear for their life when going to play in a park (Tamir Rice). No one should fear for their life when getting a traffic ticket (Sandra Bland). No one should fear for their life when asking for help (Jonathan Ferrell). No one should fear for their l...ife when taking out their wallet (Amadou Diallo). No one should fear for their life when sleeping on their own couch (Aiyana Jones). No one should fear for their life when sleeping in their own bed (Breonna Taylor). No one should fear for their life when jogging (Ahmaud Arbery). No one should fear for their life when cashing a cheque (George Floyd). As a harm reduction service organization, we know how things like an individual's social background, financial status, access to housing, gender identity, sexuality, and in this context, race and ethnicity, can greatly affect the outcomes of services that are available and accessible. As an organization and as community members, we will continue to affirm that Black Lives Matter, to provide a space for Black voices and Black activism, and to commit to working to dismantle unjust institutions that continue to discriminate, harm, and kill Black individuals. "He sought to shock the country into dealing with AIDS as a public-health emergency and foresaw that it could kill millions regardless of sexual orientation." Kramer was angry, outspoken, and controversial, and for that, we are thankful for all the work he has done and the legacy that he carried.
