Gheeeee!!! I spent 2 months in India and that is where I learned how to use this wonderful thing referred to as liquid gold". Forget the store-bought ghee, it is def not as delicious as making your own. I make a jar this size about every 2 weeks, and use it on EVERYTHING.... I use one pound of unsalted butter, if possible try to buy organic/grass-fed. Let me know if you would like the instructions. It’s super easy and takes very little time. But oh so worth it

It's as cold as f%*k here in Northern Canada, and one of my favourite things to do when it's this cold is to cozy up to a warm bowl, mug, or pot of Kitchari! I started dabbling in Ayurvedic cooking a long long time ago, but really got into it around 2006, when I discovered "The Modern Ayurvedic Cookbook" by Amrita Sondhi from Vancouver. I've made several different variations of Kitchari, but today's is extra yummy, because I also have some freshly made ghee.... Check out my Kitchari Recipe & the Benefits of this Superfood Ayurvedic Meal! Honestly, I can not think of more warming, nurturing, and nutritious dish than kitchari! It's like a hug in a bowl

Ovaries!! In Hormone Yoga Therapy the ovaries are one of the main organs/glands that we focus on. We massage, stretch + visualize them in several different postures. Current knowledge indicates that females are born with their entire lifetime supply of gametes. At birth, the normal female ovary contains about 1-2 million/oocytes (eggs). Females are not capable of making new eggs, and in fact, there is a continuous decline in the total number of eggs each month.... The research predicts that before birth, women have roughly 600,000 follicles present in their ovaries, but at age 30 typically 12% of these will remain. At around the age of 35, estrogen levels begin to slowly, decline, until they are producing very little and our periods stop. I never gave much thought to my ovaries, before. They did their job every month. They produced the hormones estrogen and progesterone, and everything was fine. That is until they stopped producing those hormones and my levels began to decline. Most women will experience symptoms of hormonal shifts, that are a result of declining hormone production. Hormone Yoga Therapy increases the levels of hormones. With an increase in the hormones, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone (small amounts), your body will be working for you and bringing balance and harmony to your life. If you have had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy, HYT will still work, because we can produce hormones in our hypophysis. Pretty cool!!! This is my go-to for quick stress release! Box Breathing/Four Square Breathing or in Sanskirt Sama Vriiti, is a very simple and even familiar type of stress management exercise. Box breathing is a simple, free, and effective anxiety regulation exercise that you can use anytime. It is used to decrease stress and anxiety and induce a sense of calm in the body.... When you become anxious, your brain launches into fight or flight mode. This process results in a number of mental and physical changes, including increased heart rate and shallow breathing. One of the quickest ways to regulate your physical body and calm your mind is through breathing techniques. Try box breathing the next time you get anxious by following these steps on repeat until you feel more relaxed. How to do it: 1. Let out all of the air in your lungs to the count of four. 2. Keep your lungs empty for a count of four. 3. Inhale for a count of four. 4. Keep your lungs full for a count of four. Repeat. . . . . #pranayamas #pranayamabreathing #calming #breathwork

Let’s talk New Year! Do you make new goals for the year? New Year resolutions, goals, and intentions? I’m not really into the new year new me thing, Because hello still me but I do however like to take a moment to regroup, replan, reflect. Setting accomplishable goals and reaching them is so gratifying. Even if they’re small daily goals. ... Here is my list: See my DAUGHTERS in person who live far far away from me. Hug my GRANDDAUGHTER!!!! Who lives really close to me, (but we’re following restrictions). Continue to keep my hormones happy + balanced by practicing Hormone Yoga 5-7x/week. Get at least 8 hours minimum of sleep a night. Eat nourishing foods, but not deprive me of fun stuff like chips. Play outside as much as possible, doing stuff like skating, walking, forest bathing + general frolicking around. Play my piano more often. l ove What are some of your intentions + wishes for 2021?

Happy February Friends. Here’s another version of my Maca cake, full of yummy and gooey goodness! What is Maca? It is an Andean root that grows at about 4300 meters above sea level. Maca is the energizing superfood of the Incas, jam-packed with vitamins, minerals + essential amino acids. Maca is revered for its aphrodisiac qualities + wide-ranging benefits that help balance the endocrine system.... Why add Maca to recipes. More like why not? hormonal regulator + revitalizes cells alleviates menstrual disorders alleviates peri/menopause symptoms helps to prevent osteoporosis increases fertility + sexual vigor regulates nervous system helps with alleviating stress + fatigue You can add to smoothies, juice, salad, or whatever your hearts desire. I prefer my maca in baking, with lots of dark chocolate, these two make for a delicious combo.

Food Post Avocado is one of my favourite go-to snacks or really anytime foods. They are super easy to prepare and can be added to salads, sandwiches, dips, or eaten alone. Did you know that a medium avocado has twice the amount of potassium as a medium banana? Potassium is one of the most important minerals in the body, as it helps regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions, and nerve signals. What's more, a high-potassium diet may help reduce blood pressure and wate...r retention, protect against stroke, and prevent osteoporosis and kidney stones. Avocados are earthy, oily + sweet. They are grounding and filling. They contain a good amount of fiber, Vit B, C + E plus magnesium. Add paprika/chili powder, black pepper, lime or make guacamole, and snack away. Avocado = perfection. Unfortunately, there is a dark side to our insatiable avocado consumption. In countries where the fruit is grown, the increase in demand is leading to the indiscriminate destruction of land, and even the exploitation of growers by criminal gangs. This means that despite bold claims that avocados are a clean and sustainable superfood, the reality is that avocados have serious consequences. When it comes to tourist foods, perhaps we should shift away from consuming them less as if they were grown in our backyards. Rather, they should be consumed more moderately and from time to time this would decrease the demand and therefore the supply and help to fight the environmental impact of avocado production. Food for thought.
