We're sad that we can't continue our programming during these times. However, we wanted to share a few stories of generosity that have been huge during the past year in continuing to help our athlete! http://mwsa.ca/generosity-continues-through-the-challenges/

Friends. It's with sadness we have to announce again that the Province of Manitoba has implemented new health orders effective this Sunday, and that our programming will have to shut down again. We hope that we can once again enjoy sport and recreation together. Please stay active as best you can while keeping yourself and your community safe.

We're super excited to have our new sport wheelchairs and spinergy wheels arrive! Thanks to Canadian Tire Jumpstart and the #SportReliefFund, we were able to purchase five new wheelchairs and nine sets of wheels. For tires on the ground, this has almost doubled the number of wheels available in our programs and will go a long way to renewing our aging equipment and having new sizes of wheelchairs available so everyone can play! A huge thank you to Jumpstart for your support of sport and recreation for every body. A big thank you as well to Prairie Velo for helping us with this!

Last night Fergies Fish and Chips at The Forks presented a special wheelchair to a very deserving young athlete thanks to Fergie’s customers! The restaurant has... collected well over a million tabs from cans. The funds from the tabs will help pay for a new wheelchair for Caleb. We’re proud of Gus Tsouras, owner of the popular Fergie’s restaurants, the Fergie’s team and everyone who donated tabs towards the wheelchair. Gus says that they’ve collected these tabs at Fergie’s for years and that customers not only contribute after they’ve had a canned drink but many return with bags of tabs from their own homes. So it’s important to stress that tonight’s donation to Caleb was made possible by Fergie’s customers!Gus Tsouras Caleb has been playing wheelchair basketball for several years but the presentation tonight is for a special sport wheelchair, designed specifically for playing surfaces like hardwood floors and agile movements.

We're super thankful for all the amazing organizations and donors who have supported our association over the years. While we remain strong in our pursuit of healthy living and accessible sport and recreation for all, organizations such as the Children's Rehabilitation Foundation have been instrumental in helping our young athletes gain the needed equipment to fully participate on the court and in the community. We're excited to hear that their fundraising goal to provide Teo a new basketball wheelchair has been reached. Congrats!!
