It’s that time of year again, the cold weather is moving in and luckily, we get to spend this winter locked inside, but our homes have nowhere to run. With the winter hitting its peak in the next few weeks, now is the most important time of all to get your pipes checked and learn how to keep them from freezing over. Keep reading to learn some useful tips about how to prevent frozen pipes : Drain water from the pipes that are most likely to freeze, such as swimming poo...ls or sprinkler lines. Seal any cracks in the walls, especially around areas that have a lot of pipes. Try to keep an open circulation of air flow in your home, as long as warm air is moving around your pipes are less likely to freeze. Keep your garage, windows, and doors closed when not in use, this allows the hot air to stay in and the cold air to stay out. Run water on the really cold days, running water will decrease the chance of it freezing or at least by you some time until it warms up. If your pipes do freeze the best action you can take is using a heated blanket or hairdryer to heat up the pipes, if the problem persists do not hesitate to call a professional. Frozen pipes could cost thousands of dollars of damage to your home, in this case it's always better to be safe than sorry, check out the Blog below to learn more useful tips and tricks for protecting your pipes this winter! There are two things nobody wants in this freezing weather: their furnace breaking down and people unnecessarily coming into their home. Here’s how you can prevent both by ensuring your furnace is in tip-top shape: Keep an eye and an ear out for weird sounds Sometimes furnaces can make weird noises or hum every 15 minutes, but how do you tell if it’s a good hum or a bad hum? Well, the hum isn’t the problem! It’s the snap, crackles, and pops you need to look out for, and no...Continue reading
