Dental Care for Children and Infants Infants and children are not immune to oral health problems, and it's vital to take proper care of your child's teeth from the very beginning To help you with that, we have prepared a list of dental care necessities for your little ones... 1 Baby Teeth Cleaning: Baby teeth should be cleaned as soon as they erupt. Clean your baby’s teeth with a soft washcloth or gauze after every bottle or meal. Encourage your children to brush their own teeth once they have the coordination to do so. Replace toothbrushes every two to three months. 2 First Dental Visit: It is important that your child visits a dentist by the time they are 1 y.o. to establish long-term dental hygiene and a professional dental cleaning plan. 3 Dental Sealant Application: Dental sealants are used to protect teeth from decay and are appropriate as soon as a tooth erupts. 4 Fluoride Treatments: Check with your dentist and water authority about the need for fluoride treatments. 5 Dental Flossing: Parent-assisted dental flossing should commence when two teeth erupt next to each other. Independent flossing should occur when children can do it on their own. 6 Mouth Washing: Mouth washing is usually recommended by age seven, provided your child can perform the activity. 7 Orthodontics: Orthodontics may be appropriate by seven years of age. Keep in mind that these age ranges are estimates only; you should follow your dentist’s recommendations. In case you need any advice on pediatric dental care, feel free to give us a call Were these tips helpful for you? 4 Alternatives To a Root Canal Treatment Root canal treatment is one of the most efficient ways to treat an infected and dying tooth. Though this procedure is considered to be effective and painless, many patients are curious about the alternatives. So, what other procedures can be performed instead of a root canal treatment?... 1 Tooth Extraction It's the most obvious but also more traumatic alternative. Most dental professionals recommend avoiding tooth extraction and saving your tooth whenever possible. 2 Pulp Capping Here, a sealant is used to close off the entrance to the pulp. This procedure isn't always successful, and you may eventually still require a root canal treatment. 3 Bridge Dentures If you decide to remove the tooth, it can be replaced with a dental bridge. 4 Dental Implants Dental implants can permanently replace missing teeth, but the procedure is more costly than a root canal treatment. As you can see, there are enough alternatives to root canal treatment, but there are things to consider before choosing one. Your dentist at Markham Smile Centre will make sure to consult you on all the alternatives and recommend the most suitable way to treat your teeth If you are experiencing pain, call us right away to discover the reason as soon as possible We are always here for you! #mysmilecentre #webelieveinyoursmile #rootcanaltreatment #mysmile_tips #dentistryappointment #dentalcarecanada #dentistmarkham

Good Morning from Your Smile Centre, Due to the restrictions ordered by the Ontario Government to reduce the spread of COVID-19, there have been a few questions regarding dentistry. We wanted to let everyone know that, YES, we are OPEN. Dentistry is an essential part of healthcare and we will continue to provide both preventive and restorative as well as emergency treatment. We will not be providing some elective services such as teeth whitening at this time. ... We are grateful to remain open as we know how important it is to stay on top of dental issues before they become major problems. Good oral health is directly related to good overall health. Please know that we are doing everything we can to ensure that we go above and beyond all of the recommended safety protocols to keep you, your loved ones, and our team healthy and safe. That is, and always will be our highest priority. Our strict protocols include: Advanced pre screening, using Hepa air filters, wearing advanced PPE, and limiting the number of people in the office by making virtual consultations available. Our offices have always been proud of being experts when it comes to asepsis and sterilizations protocols and it should be noted that there has been no evidence of COVID spread related to dental offices at this time. Should you have any questions, or wish to postpone or delay any upcoming appointments, please feel free to reach out. We completely understand that not everyone is comfortable receiving dental treatment at this time and we will do our best to accommodate all of your needs while making sure that you feel safe. Continuing to follow our enhanced safety guidelines, that we have had in place since June, will help to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for everyone. Underneath these layers of extra protection, rest assured that we are still the same, caring, attentive providers we have always been! Thank You for your trust during these uncertain times, Your Smile Centre https://youtu.be/CHUqoJ0Xorg

There's a story behind every smile And the smile of our patient Greg is no exception He found MySmile Centre on Google when wanted a quick fix for his teeth before going on a vacation. We provided him with a temporary fix and consulted on permanent solutions - implants and full upper arch replacement. When Greg returned from a vacation trip, he decided to make his smile permanent.... Having evaluated the available options, he realized that it's easier to do both arches at once. One surgery and you have a beautiful and healthy smile. Who wouldn't like that? So, Greg went for a double arch "All-in-4" procedure and is very satisfied with this decision. The surgery went extremely well and the recovery was super quick - only 3-4 days! Now Greg is one of our most active patients and a dear friend He is always ready to share his experience. He even spoke on one of our free dental implants seminars! We are so lucky to have patients like Greg! P.S. the video was filmed before the pandemic. Look for a full video in IGTV section The treatment was performed by Dr. Amir Guorgui Surgical and Sedation Dentistry and Dr. James Ko Cosmetic, Implant, and Family Dentistry Treatment coordinator - Jenny #mysmilecentre #dentistryappointment #webelieveinyoursmile #dentistreview #mysmile_review #mysmile_beforeafter #virtualdentist See more
