I had the incredible chance to perform as a DJ in the PlayAlchemist’s lounge on Monday August 26, 2019 at Burning Man. Imagine a pyramid in a hot, dry desert, the Black Rock Desert. Nearby the Pyramid, imagine a cozy lounge with rich curtains, filled with cushions for lying down and relaxing. Imagine being backed home after 1 year away. When I found out about Burning Man 20 years ago, it blew my mind; I knew I had to go. It was an intention, but without a real plan, life took over: work, new girlfriend, house, kids, start up, etc. I almost forgot about Burning Man. Then on July 8, 2015, one of my best friends died. We had so many crazy things to do. All of them have remained at the intention level. This death triggered a lot of decisions, like selling my first company. During the Christmas holidays, while ...creating a vision board to plan for 2016 with my family, I drew 3 things: take crazy pictures, become a DJ and go to Burning Man. So we bought a motorhome. I thought that was it, I was going to Burning Man, but no, life has resumed again. Then a year later, a new vision board to plan for 2017. I draw the same 3 things: take more pictures, become a DJ and go to Burning Man. So we sold our house, no time for my dream then on August 20 another close friend, passed away Groundhog Day, another vision board to plan for 2018. My daughters started laughing saying to me "we know what you're going to draw: pictures, DJ and Burning Man. Dad, you are so predictable". And I told them: "if you know my 3 desires, it is not because I am predictable; it is because I did nothing to achieve them". That was it, I wasn't going to wait for another friend to die, Burning Man was no longer a desire nor an intention. It was a certainty. I got my Burning Man ticket, drove my RV and found myself in the PlayAlchemist camp. And synchronicities just blew me away ... 1998 I was looking for parts for my motorcycle, a Suzuki Madura, on the web. I was fortunate enough to have ADLS Internet at work. 1998. During my research, I came across a Suzuki Madura web page of a "sexy Japanese model". Not exactly a bike page That day, my testosterone reacted rather well to this sexy model. So I explored her web page (read: look at her photos). Her site was linked to another "model" web page, IheartVeronica. So I continue my ‘reading’ on this site. A ...collection of pictures immediately caught my eye a series of pictures that had been taken in a flat desert, with people strangely dressed, driving even stranger vehicles. It looked so cool. I (almost) forgot Veronica, and I focused on this desert, trying to find the name of this event. I found a photo of a lettered sculpture written Burning Man. I realized that was the name of the event. A new world had just opened up to me. The more I read about "Burning Man", the more fascinated and attracted I was. I knew I had to go. Burning Man is for me a story of almost 20 years. And how I got there could be (and might be) the subject of many posts. Due to COVID, Burning Man 2020 in Black Rock City, Nevada is canceled. The last 2 summers, I went to this magical place, driving my RV for months, traveling 12,500 km each time. Not going on a road trip in the Nevada desert this summer makes me feel a bit ‘empty’. But, my 2 trips to Burning Man filled me with several things: Love with a capital L, the desir...e to become a better human and a unique family of true friends. In all reality, I never really left Burning Man, I brought it with me, in my heart. Even more I can probably say that I have been a burner since I was born. Going there was just going ‘home’. Below is the photo of @brunogoulet , a true friend I met at @PlayAlchemist / @BurningMan in 2018. We connected in a slightly strange way. Bruno is one of the most powerful positive-mindset people I know, coupled with a strong analytical / human sense and always having the right words to describe and make a group feel like a family. It takes time to become a better version of yourself, it is a long process. It involves transforming yourself, sometimes radically, and human transformation is a long and difficult. This journey is fraught with pitfalls, is often frustrating, sometimes even painful when it involves healing from traumas. In this case, one must fully realize the emotions and pain associated with it. A lifetime project for some. Patience and time are needed, but a gem can emerge from this human ...transformation. To feel completely free for a few minutes is magnificent; to feel the essence of our own existence while looking at the star is breathtaking. When it comes to transformation, patience and time, Mother Nature is the great master. The Carslbad caverns in New Mexico are a perfect example. Its transformation has been undergoing for more than 4 million years, and will continue long after the disappearance of Humans. It’ss a spectacular and a powerful place to meditate, 1600 feet underground, feel the essence of our own existence and the power of transformation!
