Manitoba Association of Trail Runners 22.01.2021

Earlier this week a MATR representative participated in the "Working in a Good Way: Best practices and lessons learned for collaborating in recreation and reconciliation" webinar developed for trail organizations and hosted by the Outdoor Recreation Council of BC. We are incredibly grateful to Patrick Lucas, Co-Founder, and Director of the BC Aboriginal Youth Mountain Biking Project, and Tom Eustache, of the Simpcw First Nation, who shared their lessons learned from working together building trails and relations throughout BC. If you're interested in the Best Practices guide, you can read it here: https://www.orcbc.ca//2019_ORC_Working-in-a-Good-Way_web.p

Well, Mother Nature timed that dump of snow to coincide perfectly with the official start to winter! On that note, we're looking for trail runners to head out to Grand Beach and pre-pack the Wolf Ridge trail to help with winter grooming efforts! With current public health guidelines, we can't organize a group activity, but if you have a pair of snowshoes and have started your Christmas break already, it would help 2 Wheel Revolution prepare the trail so that other grooming equipment can be used on the trails. Want to load the 5.7km route to your watch if you're not familiar with the area? You can find it on our website!

We've got great news about trails in Grand Beach! After working with Manitoba Parks and advocating on behalf of trail runners, Wolf Ridge Trail is officially being designated as a multi-use trail for non-motorized traffic! This trail includes some of the sweet single track you may already be running in Grand Beach. Ps: Members get great news like this delivered right to their inboxes! You can read more good news about trails in Grand Beach on our website. We've uploaded the route on GAIA where you use the export tool to download a gpx or kml file of the official 5.7km trail in case you want to save the route for yourself.
