"I too am exhausted and extremely worried. My teams are exhausted, the health care system is exhausted, but none of us are giving up and you can not give up eit...her. I need your help. We need your help. We are all in this together." "We can turn this around if we are selfless not selfish." Dr Strang May 7 2021

MAY 7th UPDATE and it’s not good. Reporting 227 new cases today. There is still more than over 200 more positive cases to be entered into the system. Folks, that is 427 cases today. That’s a lot. Another death from Covid. Deepest condolences to family. Such a sad time.... Folks, we must assume variants are in every community. That means stop our movements and do more than we did in the first wave. 8am tomorrow (Saturday) the border for month of May is closed unless absolutely essential for legal or medical. Bought a house here? You’ll have to wait. Can’t come to summer homes here. Snowbirds and students can return but MUST follow protocols. There will be penalties for false documents and those fines will be written. STOP looking for loopholes! We have to do everything we can! Retail: Essential is groceries, pharmacies, pet supplies and hardware. Stay within your municipality! Police will fine you the $2000 if you’re outside. One person in the household should go out for groceries, etc. Shop online, buy local, do curbside when possible. We did it last year, we can do it again. We must. Rotational workers: it’s difficult to be away from families but we have hotspots around the country and we have to be aware of that. Need to tighten up for month of May. Effectively immediately if you are a rotational worker and in a hotspot, you will have to isolate for 14 days FULL QUARANTINE away from family. No more modified isolation. FULL QUARANTINE. Schools closed until end of May and we will reassess for June. Premier thanked teachers. Shoutout to teachers of grades 1 and 2 teaching our young people to read and equipping them for the future. Dr. Strang expects high numbers in the coming days. The honest truth is May will be difficult, said Dr. Strang. Yarmouth, we have been so blessed. That doesn’t mean Covid isn’t here. But we have, in part, been sheltered. It’s time to do what we do best and look out for each other. PLEASE support local as much as possible. Send one person out to do shopping. Stay home, work from home if you can. Stay safe. Take this seriously. VERY seriously. Happy Mother’s Day to all moms and those who stand in for moms. Send mom flowers, but do NOT go visit her! She will love you for it Mayor Pam

On Friday I did an interview with radio that is heard in all major cities in Canada. Lots of folks called to say they heard and how they are excited about checking out what Yarmouth has to offer. I’ve often referred to us as the best piece of real estate on earth. We aren’t far off! The quality of life here is off the charts and the housing market is drawing people from all over the world. We have more work to do but we are on our way!!! Thankful to be in a position to share what we have with the world!! https://www.google.ca//house-prices-canada-crea_ca_5fda626

Did you say rappie pie???!!! On New Years Day, there will a free Rappie pie lunch at the HOPE Centre from 11:30-1. This will be a drive/walk thru takeout setup. Rappie pie(chicken), a dinner roll, butter and utensils in a take out tray. Given the 100 meals program is on hold for this year, finding new ways to still provide meals is important Make sure you socially distance and wear your masks! Please share share share!

Mayor Pam Mood 20.12.2020

Share!! I love this community!

Mayor Pam Mood 09.12.2020

Friends stopped by this morning bearing gifts of honey, wine, lobster, chocolate... for me it's never about the gift, but instead, that I have been in someone's thoughts. It means more than I can ever express. Some knocked this morning, some simply left the gift on the doorstep. But one asked me why I was so quiet (I guess that's not like me!) And so I will explain. I've been overwhelmed by this community. I don't say those words lightly. And when I'm overwhelmed, I go... quiet. As a professional speaker, I make my living off of the words I share, so it should be easy to express a simple thank you. And yet, it's not, because I don't think there are words that can aptly describe how I feel about this community - and by community I mean her people. You are generous to a fault. You come together to support each other in good times, in bad times and in the most tragic times. There is never any question that we will be there for each other. Your first response is always, "What can I do to help" without thinking twice. This year has been particularly difficult, but we've maneuvered through it well. Then we are dealt the worse possible blow. I guess I've been quiet because my heart is working overtime. It's both heavy with grief and it's full of love and thankfulness and gratitude. I hope you know you all matter to me. I care deeply for every single individual in this entire region, regardless of our relationship. My wish for you on my favorite, sacred day of the year, is for peace to find you and settle into your soul. Life is not easy, and we are each dealing with heavy things ourselves, or helping to carry the burden for others. I wish for you that you find respite for a time from any pain your heart is experiencing and that you know you're loved. Christmas Eve I go extra quiet because of the immensity of the meaning of today and tomorrow. And so I'll leave social media for a bit, focus on my family and will see you soon. I know we will all continue to do kindnesses for each other... it's who we are. God's richest blessings to each of you from my home to yours. - Mayor Pam See more

Mayor Pam Mood 22.10.2020

Simply WOW!!!! This evening I was treated -and I mean TREATED-to a taste of Honey Bee’s upcoming menu. From tempura fish to sushi, udon noodle soup to dumplings, spring rolls to avocado and spicy tuna... it was so unbelievably GREAT that I’m still at a loss for how to describe it. Thank you Sonia and Troy Lawrence. What an amazingly rich experience you are bringing to the region. WELL DONE!!!

Mayor Pam Mood 15.10.2020

Pumped!!! 2000 customers!!

Mayor Pam Mood 13.10.2020

Couldn’t be prouder if they were mine! It was a privilege and an honor for me to be part of the awards ceremony for these amazing gentlemen as they earned Chief Scout and Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The capacity for the work done in obtaining these awards to grow men of strong character cannot be overstated. They are without question our future leaders but they are most certainly leaders right now. Well done. Thank you Scouter Jeff Little for the invitation.

Mayor Pam Mood 20.09.2020

It's taken me a day to finally post this, but with good reason. A little part of me thought if I don't post it, it won't be real. I know, I know, people leave the council table all the time. Well this time is different. For me at least. I've served two terms as Mayor. My second four years, Phil was my Deputy Mayor. He served as Mayor from 2008-2012, so he knows what the seat is all about. Phil weathered one of the worst times in our history. I always refer to it as th...Continue reading

If anyone can donate a gas card of ANY amount, please deliver to town hall and staff will put it in an envelope with my name on it. I’ll get it to the person who needs it. Mayor Pam Mood 19.08.2020

Today I was chatting with a friend who has known about this letter for the past couple months and asked why I hadn't posted it. A nomination for the 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada is huge, after all. I was frank, as always. I told her that first, I was so humbled by the nomination that I was seriously at a loss for words. So I left it unposted, but carry around the impact of it with me every day. Secondly, I do what I do because I love this community, this Province, this ...Country and our amazing people, and whatever it takes to move us forward, make us better, I'm in 1000%. My mom has always said it's not about the award, it's about allowing others to celebrate the work being done. Point taken. Third, and the reason that hit me hardest this past week, is that regardless of what I post, some will take it the wrong way and use it in a negative manner. And for a brief, VERY BRIEF, moment, that held me back. It's so unlike me because you all know I share the good, bad and ugly equally. No fear here. Then last evening I was speaking with a mom of young girls who was very clear in saying that we have to share our wins so that our daughters, our friends, our colleagues, females everywhere, will see the possibilities, stand taller in who they are. So they'll know we can celebrate these things and celebrate each other and lift each other up - because it's the right thing to do. And so I apologize for not sharing this sooner, for that very reason: if I can reach one girl and say "do what makes your heart sing! Serve, give, love like there's no tomorrow. Make it count. Make a difference in the lives of others, and do it on your terms..." then this nomination will have served its purpose. It's one of a number of letters I received for the nomination, and each one broke me. Thanks to those who believe in me, who let me be absolutely, unapologetically ME. Thanks to those of you who will see the WIN isn't in the prize, it's in the nomination, and moreso, the WIN is in the work done to get here - the work that has made our community, country, province, that much better, for all the right reasons. I love what I do so that was the easy part. Thank you to those who have the courage to celebrate these positive moments with me, because not everyone does and will. You don't have to love me, but don't ever EVER doubt that what I do is for you. For us. Every. Single. Time. The humility is making it hard to hit the "post" button, but the message to girls and women out there that what we do matters, is more important. #muchlove #nomoreglassceiling #celebrate #humbled #girlsrock See more

You have to love the signage downtown!! It's encouraging folks to "come on down" even though the street is closed. Businesses are open and sidewalks are intact and we'd love to have you support the local businesses!

Mayor Pam Mood 17.08.2020

Having a nostalgic day. My mom and dad gifted this to me on Sunday at the celebration after the Mayoral race. I cried. It's my Ghiddi's (grandfather's) gavel that he used at meetings when he was Mayor. Wow. I've never used one to run a meeting but it's so nice to have this piece of history so close! #bestgift #history #passiton

Mayor Pam Mood 03.08.2020

Town Hall will be closed Monday but you can still vote online... or wait until Tuesday if you want to vote in person at Town Hall! Thankful for an amazing staff and hope they get their fill of turkey and family and pie over the long weekend!!

I miss my Ghiddi but I think he is glad that the "necklace" he wore fits me too. #nostalgia #lebaneseleaders

CHALLENGE!!!! There's lots of work going on downtown and I'm challenging the community to shop downtown as this work is completed! Post a pic of you in the downtown core and share your fun shopping experiences right here, tagging the local businesses. This is one way to make sure they can continue to provide the great services they do!

Mayor Pam Mood 22.06.2020

Thursday voting starts! Do you have your package with your PIN?? If not, call the number below so you can vote :)

Mayor Pam Mood 16.06.2020

Another amazing project providing a trail on the Haley Road. Councillor Steve is looking over plans for Phase 2 and 3 as we extend this piece. Excited to have this project ongoing. Thanks to Yarmouth Wesleyan Church for the "inside the wall" space!!!! Loving this :)

We are SOOOO excited the Town of Yarmouth has this up and running. A brand new bulk water station located on the corner of Haley Road and Industry Avenue! Thanks to our engineering team for making this happen so quickly. No tokens... credit card only at the moment. We all know this end of the Province is experiencing droughts. This will help! :)

Great job putting all the candidates who were interested in this forum together for people to view! My website is listed, but may not be up and running until Thursday... it keeps telling me "48 hours" :)

Mayor Pam Mood 02.05.2020

This Copied from Sheri Hurlburt! And again I ask if anyone is in need of anything please let me know. We have an entire community willing to lend a hand. It’s who we are.

Mayor Pam Mood 17.04.2020

"Teddy" (not the cuddly kind we love!) is on his way. IS THERE ANYTHING YOU NEED to be 72-hour ready? Our community is AMAZING at lending a hand to those in need. Last call on here as we don't want to be out there in the mess. So if you need anything, inbox me or post here and we'll find someone to help. STAY SAFE :)

Mayor Pam Mood 03.04.2020

NOTE!!! No water distribution at Mariners Center on Tuesday because of Teddy! Please pass this on, thanks folks!

Mayor Pam Mood 29.03.2020

The latest from environment Canada: Hurricane Teddy poised to reach offshore waters south of Nova Scotia on Tuesday as a hurricane, and will impact as a strong post-tropical storm on Tuesday into Wednesday. It's currently a category 3. It will slowly move up during the next two days, and begin to accelerate towards Nova Scotia. It is expected to be a very dangerous post-tropical storm as it moves through NS and Nfld. Rainfall could be significant (that's a bit of good news...!) We will see tropical storm force winds. POWER OUTAGES are likely due to breaking branches and possible tree falls. It's a beautiful day to get out there and secure all of our lawn furniture and anything else that might fly around folks! Again, check on your neighbours and as per Emergency Management orders, be ready for 72 hours with everything from water to food, batteries, medications, and whatever else is required. Stay safe!
