Under normal circumstances, nearly 100 McGill community members would gather to celebrate the 10th annual Catalyst Awards for Sustainability at the Musée McCord Museum. While the in-person festivities may be delayed, there is still just as much to celebrate. The accomplishments and significant progress made towards building a more sustainable McGill by this year’s Catalyst Awards recipients is nothing short of extraordinary. http://ow.ly/ORGT50CpjZL

The Morgan Arboretum is one of the most beautiful corners of Montreal. Situated on the western end of the Island in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the 245-hectare forest reserve has been part of Macdonald Campus of McGill University since 1945. In addition to its teaching and research purposes, the Arboretum is a recreational facility open to the public throughout the year. A wonderful family destination all year round, this enclave of tranquility is at its most beautiful during the fall when the leaves start to change colour, as witnessed by this gallery of photos taken by McGill Reporter editor Neale McDevitt during a recent visit. http://ow.ly/Q5fD50C6mI2

How do we rekindle our relationship with the land and our food? Two McGill University graduates are testing out an answer: start by educating future consumers. L’École-O-Champ, launched by Valérie Toupin-Dubé and Mathieu Rouleau, teaches kids about the realities of our food systems, and fosters an appreciation for local, sustainable foods. Valérie Toupin-Dubé and Mathieu Rouleau both came from rural areas. When they started studying at McGill, they were surprised how distant... their new urban lives felt from the farming environments they grew up in. Driven by a desire to unite these two familiar worlds, they created École-O-Champ. At the Macdonald campus in 2013, this student initiative was sparked with a driving force: to restore the link between urban youth and the agricultural world.
