All water sources in the backcountry, pristine-looking lakes, fast-flowing creeks and glacier-fed streams can be contaminated by birds, animals or humans. Simply put, if your water is from an un-treated source, you should treat it before you drink it, cook with it or use it to brush you teeth. #backcountryweek

When we are camping we are surrounded by the great outdoors. Its a time where we unplug and notice whats in front of us. Camping makes it easy to become present at the moment. That being said, an at-home campout presents an opportunity for us to appreciate the nature close to home birds outside the window, moss on the trees, bugs in the grass. We asked #MECAmbassador, Charlie Easton to share his thoughts with us and he said, "no matter where you are if you take the time... to notice the small details youll have a more profound connection to that moment and to nature". Charlie is challenging us to slow down, look for the small details - the change in clouds as the day unfolds or the veins in a leaf, and write down/draw what we see. Take the time to notice, appreciate, and remember the true beauty of nature. #thebigcampin
